ColourPop Mini-Haul

Happy Humpday!

Today, I wanted to share three products that I bought from ColourPop! I only bought three because I’ve never bought anything from them and wanted to test out some products. That’ll help me decide if I want to buy more from them. I purchased three lip products.

The first two are from ColourPop’s Lippie Stix line. Lippie Stix are a variety of different lip stick colours, that have different finishes.

1. Lippie Stix: Frida: $ 5.00

This is the color Frida, from the Lippie Stix collection, and it has a satin finish. The description on the website says, “A warm mid tone nude pink with a satin finish”.  I was really excited to try this one out, but I was disappointed when I put it on. I really didn’t like the color on me, at all! They have a picture of their model wearing the color, but for some reason I forgot that I wasn’t the same skin tone as their model. My skin tone is very olive/medium/tan looking and the model in the photo is quite light compared to me. On her, Frida looks gorgeous. It looked like the description said it should, a very nude pink. But on me, it was way too bright. I looked like I was trying to pull of the “Nicki Minaj lips”, but I wasn’t doing it well. In the picture above, the packaging color definetely doesn’t match the actual color of the lipstick. The packaging makes it look much warmer than how it looks on me. It is quite sheer, so I had to build it up. I definetely didn’t leave the house with this one on. But I will say, it definetly has a satin finish. I like how weightless it feels on my lips, now I just need to find myself the right color. If you want to check this one out, click here.

2. Lippie Stix: Brink: $ 5.00

This is also from the Lippie Stix collection. It’s Brink and has a matte finish. They described it as, “A warm dusty taupe in a matte finish”. They also said that this one was inspired by Kylie Jenner. I love this one! It’s very close to my natural lip color, but more “taupe”. I do have to layer it on to get some color, but that’s not really a big deal to me. After you put it on and wait a couple minutes, it looks like it’s matte. But it does come off whenever I drink something or eat, so it’s not totally “matte”. I really like this as an every day type of color. On me, it comes off like a deep coral color with pink undertones, which is close enough to taupe for me. But on the model in the picture, it looks way lighter! It’s amazing how different color lips and skin can cause the same lipstick to look so different. If you are lighter, check out the model in the picture because mine definitely doesn’t look like that. This lipstick doesn’t last a long time either. With all the talking and eating I do, I reapply one layer almost every two hours, which is perfectly fine, just not expected since it’s supposed to be “matte”. But overall, I really like it! 3. Ultra Matte Lip: Beeper: $6.00

This one is my absolute favorite! The color is Beeper, which is in their Ultra Matte Lip Collection. This is a liquid lipstick and boy, did I have a hard time figuring it out. (I’m still learning, so don’t judge how it looks in that photo!) It’s my first liquid lipstick and I’m ready for more! They described this as, “call me, beep me, if you wanna reach me in this warm mid-tone taupe”, gotta love Kim Possible references!

As with all of these lippies, the color on me doesn’t show up like it does on the model…Brown girl probs. But, I still love the way it looks, even though it wasn’t what I was expecting. It looked more like a stony, frosted, taupe color, on their website. But on me, it’s more dark brown with violet mixed in. I love it! If you look at how the product looks inside the tube, it looks nothing it at all! Don’t judge these lipsticks by what their packaging colors are. They lie to you.

Since I had never tried a liquid lipstick, I had just put it on like normal. Geez, was that a mistake! What you’re supposed to do is exfoliate your lips first, then do it. They even put it on the directions, which I read afterwards. My lips were so gross and wrinkly/clumpy looking. It looked much better the next time I tried it, after I exfoliated my lips. Word of advice if you’re going to try liquid lipsticks, work fast! They dry pretty fast and can end up looking streaky if one part dries before the other. Or you could try layering it. What I do is outline my lips, then fill it in as fast as possible. But I’m still an amateur in this department. Another thing about this is that when you need to take it off, it’s almost impossible to do it without work. With the other two, I was able to wipe/wash them off. But this is made to be extremely long lasting, so it’s going to require effort. I tried washing it with hot water then wiping it with a towel, which worked after almost ten minutes. I read somewhere that putting Vaseline on it, then letting it sit, and then wipe it off with hot water would work. I tried that and it took about five minutes. If you guys know an easier way to get them off, let me know!

Even though this particular one requires more work, I’m still going to wear it. I saw a lot of beauty gurus on Youtube and Instagram, of all different skin tones, wearing this one particular color. I finally went on the website, saw that Beeper was only $6.00 and decided to get it. If you want to check them out click here!

Even though I didn’t like the first shade, Frida, it was only $5.00, which is better than buying a Mac lipstick for way more, and then not liking it. I’m very happy with the other two, especially Beeper! I recommend that if you see a shade you like, search it on google, instagram, youtube, etc, and find someone who is close to your skin tone/lips to see how it might look on you. Here’s some pictures, so that you guys can see the difference better.

For those of you who don’t know what ColourPop is, it’s a beauty company, that from what I understand, is only online. They have extremely affordable products. A quote from their ‘About Me’ says, “We think that whole barrier between fancy and affordable is absolute nonsense.” Doesn’t that statement just resonate with you? They are also animal-cruelty free! I just became a huge fan of this company and I’m deciding if I should splurge now or wait till Christmas to buy more…ah, the struggles.

Hope you guys enjoyed and let me know which one is your favorite!

Curél: Body Wash and Moisturizing Spray Review

Hello everyone!

I received two products from Influenster that were free, to test and share what I thought about them. They are both products from the brand Curél. I had never heard of this brand before, so I was really intrigued. From what I understand, their specialty is a variety of lotions. They’re a dermatologist recommended brand and many of their products are approved by the National Eczema Association.

First, let’s start off with their Itch Defense Body Wash. It says that it’s a “calming cleanser for dry, itchy skin. Clinically proven to stop the itch before it starts”. On the back it says, “this soap-free formula is a unique blend of gentle cleansers and skin conditioners that creates a rich lather to gently cleanse and soothe itchy skin”. I was really impressed by this! My arms and back are usually very dry and my arms are always rough because I’m usually to lazy to moisturize. After I used this in the shower and dried off, my arms were very soft and smooth. That was surprising to me because they’re usually very dry, right after the shower. I love that it hydrates while you’re in the shower. The two ingrediants that seem to make this possible are jojoba and olive oils, which are in various moisturizing products. I also really like that it smells normal, like how you expect an unscented lotion to smell. My other shower products are heavily scented and sometimes give me a headache, so this was a nice change.

Curél Itch Defense Body Wash

The only downside to the body wash, is that it doesn’t lather well for me. No matter how much I put, I couldn’t build it up. So I just used my regular soap, then tried my best to scrub this after and it worked really well. Other than that, I have no complaints.

The second product they sent me, is the Itch Defense Instant Soothing Moisturizing Spray. The front of this says, “clinically proven to instantly relieve dry, itchy sky with cooling hydration”. The description on the back talks about it’s Advanced Ceramide Therapy, “Ceramides are naturally found in skin’s vulnerable outer layer and help skin retain moisture. When skin’s ceramide levels are low, skin has difficulty retaining moisture.” It goes on to say the Curél moisturizers replenish skin’s ceramide levels. My favorite thing about this is that it’s a spray nozzle! I hate regular lotions where you have to put them on your hands and then your hands get all sticky. You have to press a little harder than usual on the nozzle, but other than that, it works great. I like the cooling feeling of the spray, it provides a nice cooling sensation. It also doesn’t have any added fragrance. Compared to the body wash, this has more of a lingering “lotion” scent, though. It doesn’t bother me, but if you’re sensitive to that maybe try a sample.

Curél Itch Defense Instant Soothing Moisturizing Spray

I do like how well it moisturizes my skin, but it doesn’t last long for me. After about two hours or so, I need to apply more. I’m not sure if it’s because my skin is too dry or what, but it’s not long-lasting.

Overall, I was really happy to be able to try out these two products. I really like learning about the company and the fact that they have and are continuing to make products that help people with skin problems, such as eczema. It can make their days much easier, having something to alleviate the dryness/itchiness. I love the body wash and will definetely be purchasing that, but the moisturizing spray isn’t my cup of tea.

Let me know what you guys think and if you’ve tried this brand out before!

Thanks for reading!
