Going into 2020 Cruelty-Free

Since August, I’ve been consciously choosing only cruelty-free products. I’m not sure why it took me so long to make sure all my products were cruelty-free, but better late than never.

Makeup and other beauty products aren’t worth animals getting tested on, hurt, and never being able to see sunlight or breathe fresh air. If a company is putting money over compassion, they are not getting my money.

There are so many brands that prove animal-testing is not necessary at all. I’ve learned that some brands who claim to be cruelty-free, actually test where laws require it, such as in mainland China. I will only be purchasing products that are entirely cruelty-free, meaning they do not sell where testing is required by law. I did see that if the product is made in China, they don’t test. If it is imported, they do test. Definitely have to make sure I’m researching everything thoroughly. If you see me using a product and it’s not cruelty-free, feel free to let me know. I use multiple sites to see which companies are cruelty free, such as PETA, Cruelty-Free Kitty, Leaping Bunny, and Ethical Elephant.

Majority of products I use are already cruelty-free, such as Fenty, E.L.F, and Wet N’ Wild. The products I own that are not cruelty-free is a Clinique moisturizer and two Boscia masks (Boscia tests on animals if required by law). I want to finish up what I have and go into 2020 as a cruelty-free blogger.

It has been about four months since I’ve been checking all my products, researching and making sure they’re cruelty free. It’s crazy the brands that you think are cruelty free, and are actually not! For example, brands like Fresh, surprised me when I found out they weren’t cruelty free. The ingredients and their look, for some reason gave off the vibe that they were. I know that sounds stupid, but it’s just what I thought at the time. I was really surprised to find out they weren’t. Another one that shocked me was GlamGlow! So happy I didn’t buy the expensive full-tubs of their masks, I’ve only tried the trial size versions.

Since my options started to become slightly limited, I did discover some brands I had never tried before. The most known might be Glossier. I did a blog post and a Youtube video on some of their products. Another, is a brown-girl owned brand in Canada, called Vasanti Cosmetics. I was really excited to support a smaller makeup brand!

Unfortunately, since Neutrogena and Clinique are not cruelty free, I had to find a new skincare regimen. I discovered the brand Acure in Ulta, (also in Target), and I’m in love with their products. Mad Hippie also has great products, so far I’m loving their facial sunscreen. The Ordinary is also a cruelty-free brand I’m slowly getting into. Loving their Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 product so far, (will post a review after I’ve been using it for an adequate amount of time). For hair, I’ve been using Maui Moisture, Living Proof, and Kenra Professional products.

I just wanted to update you guys and if you have any cruelty-free brands you really like, please let me know! One thing I’m looking for is a really matte foundation. I have some cruelty-free foundations, but I’m kind of a foundation hoarder, and would like to try out more brands. Let me know your thoughts and if you have any recommendations!
