Hello everyone!
One of my goals for this year is to cook more. Not only do I gain some cooking skills, I also save money. I’ve been trying to cook Monday through Friday. On the weekends, I’ll buy food when I’m out with friends. I only started in January, but I’ve saved a bit from not grabbing random fast food or snacks during the week.
This is one meal that I really enjoy and it’s pretty easy to make. It’s turmeric rice and turmeric chicken. I used Youtube to find these recipes, I’m a super visual learner, so that was the best option for me. The turmeric rice recipe I used was by BlancheTV. The turmeric chicken recipe was created by the Clean & Delicious channel. I’m not going to put the recipe in my blog, because it’s their recipe, so if you click those hyperlinks, they both have the recipe in their description box.
I realized that cutting things, like the shallots and onions, really relax me! I turned on a podcast and was just in my own world, chopping veggies. It was nice to do after work, and I made enough to have food for about three days. Please enjoy my shallot heart.

I also received a lot of compliments when I was eating my food at work. My coworkers said it smelled really good, and my ego was inflated the entire day. The turmeric rice is definitely a go-to. One ingredient I would add is black pepper, because it wasn’t in the original recipe. I don’t know the correct terms, but the black pepper helps activate the benefits of the turmeric. I’m West Indian, so I’m used to turmeric. Cooking with it though…try your best to not let it touch your clothes or spill too much anywhere, as it stains yellow.

I was happy this turmeric chicken recipe was so easy to follow. I think I need a lot more practice with cooking meat, so that’s why I liked that this recipe used the oven, instead of cooking it in a pan or something.
Follow me on Instagram @amandasushma. I have the food I make in my ‘Highlights’, to motivate myself. They are kind of basic, but I’m learning.
If you have some recipe recommendations, please let me know! 😊
Ooo, this looks incredible! The shallot heart is so cute & I am the total opposite. Chopping veg just stresses me out. Love that you can relax while doing it. 😊
