DIY: Gold-Patterned Box

Hello!

There’s been a lot going on lately, sometimes it feels overwhelming. I do stay informed, but it takes a toll on my mental health and I know I’m not the only one. DIY projects really help me find some enjoyment and help bring me back into a more positive mindset. If anyone else is into some simple DIYs, I hope this helps!

For this project, I had a wooden box that I purchased from Michael’s a long time ago. I used a screw driver and took out the clasps and screws.

I really liked that the hardware on this was gold, and thought orange would be the perfect color to paint the box. The paint I used was Apple Barrel – Harvest Orange. I used two coats of it.

I used Craft Smart Bright Gold Paint for the design. I poured the paint into a needle-tip applicator bottle, and cut the tip to be very fine. Definitely practice on something else, just to make sure that your tip is small enough and you can create the design you want. I drew on the lid first, let it dry for a day, and then did the front of the box.

I am very amateur in the design and using the applicator, so it’s not the best, but I’m really proud of it!

I have a bunch of items I’ve kept over the years and wanted this to be my memory box. Really happy with how it came out!

Let me know what’s your favorite DIY!
