Hello everyone!
With Covid and not being able to go out and do things, I’ve caught myself binging tons of shows. But, I always go back to my nostalgic favorites…except Netflix removed Friends, so I had to move onto my next favorite: New Girl.
I absolutely love New Girl, it’s hilarious and all the characters add to the show, it’s not all about Jess. I think that’s why they were able to hold it down when Zooey Deschanel was pregnant and left the show for a bit. Don’t get me wrong, I like Jess’ character, but shows that have more going on than just the main character’s issues really hold my attention a lot more.
My favorite character is definitely Schmidt. I love his lines and his growth from the start of the show. The one I always use is “Youths!”, after his wheels get stolen in the sketchy neighborhood Jess’ dating app person lives. Honestly, I just love Max Greenfield! His acting and the tone he uses to deliver his lines gets me every time.
I enjoy Cece and Schmidt’s relationship. He really went from super douche to the sweetest guy all for Cece. The way he supported her in going to college, auditioning for a news anchor job, to her starting her modeling agency, was just amazing. Also, don’t get me started on my love for little Ruth.
I also love Nick and Jess’ relationship throughout the show. It’s a sitcom, and we know they’re going to end up together, but they did such a great job showing the relationship grow into that. Can we just give them the award for best first kiss scene ever?!
Winston and Allie, love them! Also, we’ll always love you Ferguson. I recently watched Winston’s proposal for the 4th or 5th time, and it’s still just as cute as it was the first time. Also, when Rhonda got Allie-d. Go Allie!
There’s so many more characters, Coach, Bear Claw, Reagan, Paul Genzlinger (my favorite of the guest stars), and so many more, I might need to make another New Girl post.
As far as favorite episodes, there’s a lot of great ones. One that comes to mind is from season 4, episode 18, The Blow Out. I mean come on, the fact that Jess and Cece are doing a walk of shame, end up finding out Genzlinger is a clown, and motivate themselves to find their path. The iconic musical at the end is one of the most memorable things I’ve ever seen. 😂
