Today, I wanted to share my first impressions and review on Mented Cosmetics. I noticed them on Instagram because a lot of makeup artists/enthusiasts kept tagging them in their posts. Most of them were wearing their lip products, which looked stunning. The colors looked so good on people who had a similar skin tone to me, so I knew I needed to check it out. I also really loved that on their Instagram, they have a huge range of diversity on the page. A company’s Instagram page, especially for makeup, definitely reflects their values and to me, their page shows how inclusive they are to everyone of every shade.
Into the review: I got lucky and was able to purchase two products with their Black Friday sale, which was 30% off. Their prices are affordable, even without the discount.
Semi-Matte Nude Lipstick: Shade – Brand Nude
This shade is described as a “deeply pigmented tan shade”. I’m more of a light-medium skin tone and I have a neutral undertone. I definitely liked how it felt and the amount of shine it gives off, even as a semi-matte. I do like this color, but I definitely prefer it with a darker lip liner. The pictures are without a lip liner.
Gloss: Shade – Berry Me
From the name, you can tell it’s a berry shade. This is a full gloss, but it’s so pigmented! It reminds me of the Fenty glosses, but without the scent and glitter. Honestly, I prefer my glosses to not have glitter..dare I say..I like this better than Fenty…whatttt?! I love how this shade looks on my skin tone. I also ate and drank wine with this one, and even though some of the gloss faded, the color was still there with nice shine. I love this and will be purchasing more shades!
Overall, my initial thoughts on Mented Cosmetics is…I really like it. I’ll definitely be trying out some more products, but after testing these two lip products, I’m excited to try more. Also, their pricing is not bad, for example, the gloss without any discounts is $15.00. It’s not bad at all, especially considering I’ve purchased some lip products for $32 or more and they did not look or feel as good as these ones.
What do you guys think? Have you tried Mented Cosmetics? Also, let me know if you have any lesser known beauty brands you love and would like to recommend. I’m getting a little tired of the big brand’s and really want to give my money to a smaller company whose values are better than say MAC. Not sorry for that one…feeling a little spicy today…đŸ˜¬
