Didem Kinali – Belly Dancer

Hello everyone,

I’ve been wanting to share some posts about people who have inspired me, piqued my interest, or are just straight up talented and may not be well known. This post is about the Turkish belly dancer, Didem Kinali.

How did I discover a Turkish belly dancer growing up in little old North Carolina? Well, for context, I was and am pretty much a hermit and when I was young, without a driver’s license, I literally went from school to home. I was definitely a Youtube kid and would watch beauty videos, Bollywood videos, skits, etc., you get the idea.

Anyway, I happened upon belly dancing, first it was the Belly Dance Super Stars, which is a dance troupe consisting of many different forms of belly dance. From there, it was deep dive and I happened upon Didem Kinali.

She is such a talented belly dancer! I mean I’m not an expert, but to me, the average person, she’s amazing! I love her energy, she’s so confident and has such a fun persona when dancing. Her Wikipedia page doesn’t have too much information, besides she’s of Romani descent and her mother was also a belly dancer.

I thought this one was incredible, her shimmy is perfection!

I absolutely love this costume she had! Also, the song/beat she was dancing to was really lovely. It starts off very elegant and then goes into a nice sharp drum beat!

This one was a performance with a male belly dancer, which I found cool and it was also funny!
