Myers Briggs Personality Type – INFP – T

Hello everyone!

I took this Myers-Briggs personality type test months ago and have been obsessed and researching about it since then. I took it on the website, 16personalities.com, not sponsored or anything. It’s free to take, I think you may just need to provide an email. If you take it, let me know if your results match how you are! Mine was scary accurate.

My personality type is the INFP-T. This acronym stands for introverted, intuitive, feeling, prospecting and turbulent. The website has characters that represent the personality and mine is a Turbulent Mediator.

Basically, INFP’s are very empathetic and creative. One characteristic of this type is that we are very open-minded and non-judgmental, which is why we’re always willing to hear a person’s story. I completely agree with that, I believe people should be able to live their lives how they want, (within legal reason lol), and why should I or anyone else dictate their decisions. There are a lot of positives, but let’s look into what I should be working on.

A few weaknesses it states my personality type should be working on is being self-isolating, unfocused, and having emotional vulnerability. There’s more, but I wanted to keep it short for the blog’s sake. Honestly, these are all hitting the nail on the head.

I would definitely describe myself as a hermit crab, down to the point of I don’t like leaving my place after 7p.m. on the week days. I know, I know, it’s weird, but I just don’t want to. Over the years, I’ve either purposefully stopped talking to some friends for whatever reason or we just drifted apart, as people do. I don’t really have that big of a circle, and because of my empathetic side, even one friend with high emotions can stress me out.

That goes in with the emotional vulnerability, because I do tend to feel what people around me feel. For example, let’s say I had a great day at work and in a really good mood. But, someone is complaining to me about their awful day. I completely absorb their emotions and also get in a complaining/annoyed type of mood. Most of the time, people don’t understand my quick change of mood and why I’m upset, and I can’t exactly say “You, you made me this way”. That is definitely something I’m working on, but still not great at it.

In regards to the unfocused trait, absolutely true. I have so many creative ideas jotted down or videos I’ve filmed and need to edit, but I just put them all off and go straight to another idea, leaving them unfinished for a while.

These are just general points, there’s a lot more. But, I wanted to talk about the T for turbulent. There are two types of mediators A for assertive and T for turbulent. As a turbulent mediator, the website states: “turbulent personality types are not comfortable with their current lives…they are apt to ask too much of themselves and become overwhelmed”. Turbulent mediators are also more prone to expressing emotions than their assertive counterparts and tend to care more about what people think. I think this is true, there are more traits, but those are the general characteristics I wanted to point out.

If you took the test, let me know what you got! A lot of fellow creatives have either been twins with me or very close! Thanks for checking out my post!

  1. I am a assertive mediator (infp-a), I have most of the characteristics that you had mentioned in your post, just that I had become less bothered with others’ emotions and more comfortable with myself.
