Hello everyone! Hope you’re all doing well!
I wanted to share my thoughts on the Holika Holika Good Cera Super Ceramide Cream. I recently finished my first tub of it and feel super accomplished. I’m trying to finish the products I have before trying new ones, and finishing products is just…idk, like a mission has been accomplished.
Holika Holika is a Korean beauty brand, which can be found on Ulta’s website. As of right now, the Ceramide Cream is only online and retails for $29.00 for 2.02 fl. oz. of product. Honestly, that’s pretty well priced for the amount you get and the container it comes in is really great quality.
I’m trying to think of what I can reuse the container for, if you have any suggestions, please let me know!
For reference, I have primarily oily skin, but I’m dry around my t-zone and under eye areas.
Just in case you didn’t know what a ceramide cream is for, they way I understand it is that it’s almost like a super charged moisturizer. Our skin naturally has ceramides which helps create a moisturized, protective layer that helps signs of dryness or dehydration. But, with age, pollution, etc. our skin produces less and less. Hence, why topical ceramide creams have become popular. Honestly, I didn’t even know these type of moisturizers existed until this year…don’t judge me.
Anyway, on with the review. The product does not have a scent at all to me, and it looks like it would be super light weight. But once you apply it, it’s very thick and needs to be worked in. Most ceramide creams will be a thicker than the regular daily ones we use.
A few of the “key” ingredients the brand boasts for this product are hyaluronic acid, coconut, aloe vera, lavender, chamomile, etc. Definitely check the ingredients and see if you’re allergic or if your skin doesn’t like some of them. From videos by dermatologists and medical estheticians, I’ve learned that hyaluronic acid is in almost every product we have, so there’s no need to really get a specific hyaluronic acid product.
Honestly, I really wanted to love this, but it just didn’t do it for me. Once I work the cream into my face, it didn’t give a hydrated feeling. My skin just felt like it needed a more moisturizing product.
I only used this ceramide product at night, sometimes with serums and sometimes without. This definitely does make my skin soft and supple looking after sleeping with it on, but I can also get that effect with my Ordinary Squalane oil for so much cheaper and my skin actually feels moisturized with that one.
Overall, this product did not work for my skin. I wanted to love it, but alas, we all want things. I am testing a new ceramide cream and will share my thoughts after I finish that one. This one one took about two months to finish with me using it virtually every night.
Let me know what you guys think about ceramide creams and if you have a favorite!
