Review: Trader Joe’s Face Lotion SPF 15

Hello everyone!

I wanted to share my thoughts on the Trader Joe’s Enrich Moisturizing Face Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 15…whoa, is that a mouthful or what?

I purchased this around March because I was interested in a moisturizer with SPF. Most of the time, my makeup has SPF in it, but there were some that didn’t and I wanted to add this to my daily routine. I purchased this from Trader Joe’s for about $10.

It is in a nice little bottle and the product is white. It feels like your basic moisturizer, nice and smooth. It’s easy to apply and after giving it about 10-15 minutes to absorb, I find that it doesn’t leave too much of a greasy feeling. I only feel it in my super oily spots like my t-zone and cheeks. Nothing a little bit of powder can’t fix.

Unfortunately, this product did not work for me. I didn’t notice until two weeks ago that it was causing breakouts on my forehead. I tend to have acne on my cheeks, but I’ve never really broken out on my forehead. It was just a lot of really small pimples, which would take forever to come to a head.

At first, I didn’t put two and two together. My mom asked if I tried anything new, and then I thought about the lotion. But I thought that it couldn’t be because the rest of my face was not breaking out as bad. Eventually, I decided to test out not using it for two days, and lo and behold, my forehead breakouts started healing.

It’s so odd, because I put it all over my face, but only my forehead was affected. But the lotion was the culprit and now my forehead is virtually clear.

I’m not sure why it did that, but I’ll let you guys know what type of skin I have and maybe if you have the same issues, you can avoid this product. I have oily skin, prone to acne on my cheeks and chin. I’ve used many products and have almost never had breakouts from them, only the NYX color corrector palette.

I hope you guys found this helpful! Let me know if you’ve tried the lotion and if it worked out for you.

Review: Mario Badescu Drying Lotion

Hello everyone!

Today, I have a review on the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion. Recently, my skin has been breaking out on my cheeks. I had a couple cystic pimples and a couple regular ones. I was trying everything I knew, from going back to my Clinique 3 Step-System, which helped me in middle school, to toothpaste. Nothing was helping and they just kept coming back. So I decided to try out the drying lotion, which I’ve seen used quite a bit by Youtube beauty gurus.

MarioB4

The ingredients that make up this product are very unique. One of the ingredients is calamine and that might attribute for the color, which is pink. If you have itching or irritation, it will help soothe it. That’s why people use it for poison ivy, chicken pox, and other uncomfortable skin issues. Another important ingredient it has is sulfur. The sulfur helps the pore become unclogged by drying it up. The product also has camphor, which gives a nice cooling sensation. It also has salicylic acid, which is popular product in acne medication. It helps clear out pores, which prevents breakouts.

It is a spot treatment, that is to be used at night or on days when you’re only staying at home. The reason for this is that the product is very pink and obvious. The pink part is thick and almost sediment-like, and stays at the bottom of the bottle. But there is a yellow liquid (the camphor), that fills up the top half, and they are not meant to be shaken up. There are two different bottles, the glass one and the plastic one. In the plastic one, the top half may seem clear, but it’s not.

It has directions on how to use it on the back. All you have to do it dip a cotton swap all the way in, making sure to pick up the pink part, and just dab it onto your zits. This is to be done after you’ve cleansed and moisturized. The picture below is what it looks like after I’ve dabbed it on with a cotton swab.

It does have a scent, which I personally don’t mind. Since it’s only meant to be used at night, it doesn’t bother me. If you’re sensitive to smells, this has a strong sulfur/camphor type of smell. After I dab it onto my acne, I let it sit there for about fifteen minutes, before I go to sleep, so that it has time to dry and not rub off on my sheets. In the morning, the spot will still be there. Either wash it off with water, (which may take a little bit longer than usual), or exfoliate with a gentle cleanser. I prefer the latter method.

The pictures below are areas where my face had been breaking out, and what they look like now.

This was after eleven days of applying the drying lotion straight on my acne. I’m not wearing makeup in any of the photos. As you can see, it really helped calm it all down and lessen the redness. I was surprised after seeing my pictures side by side, how much it actually changed. Obviously, there are still spots that show where the acne was, but it doesn’t seem like dark spots. I’ve noticed them fading each day, so I’m not worried about it. I was impressed, especially with the pimple that was closest to my nose, because it was really large and inflamed. But after about the third day, I noticed it starting to going down and now it’s just a little blemish, fading away each day.

I highly recommend this product is you have mild acne breakouts. By that, I mean you have a couple pimples here and there, but they aren’t consistent and there all the time. Before I purchased it, I had looked up reviews for myself, and people had said they noticed a different after the first night. That didn’t happen to me, but I did notice a difference after the third day, which is still really good!

I don’t really see any negative about this product, except for the price. It is $17 at Ulta, which is quite pricey for 1 ounce. But, seeing as you only use a cotton swab and dab the product on, I think it will last a pretty long time, so it’s worth it. Another part of the products some people may not like is the smell, but like I said before, it’s only at night when you should use it, so no one but you will be smelling it. I think it’s worth it, seeing as it actually does work.

Let me know if you guys have tried this product out! Feel free to leave any comments or questions! Thanks for reading!

Dark Spot Treatment Update

Hello everyone!

I recently had success with treating my dark spots that I received from pimples I have popped. I know…gross, but that’s real life. Lesson: Try not to pop your zits. If you’re like me, sometimes you just can’t help it. But, because I have a dark and olive complexion, popping pimples almost always leaves a dark spot. I decided to find a treatment a couple months ago and it actually works! I wanted to share what helped my dark spots and hopefully it can help any of you guys who are facing the same problem.

Around the end of October, I had shared my first few experiences with the Annie’s Way Arbutin + Hyaluronic Acid Brightnening Jelly Mask. I had seen results the first couple times, which encouraged me to continue using it.

Darkspots

I’ve used the mask about eight times and these are the results. About two months and a couple weeks is the time span. Ignoring my super large pores, you can see that the top mark is gone! I was so happy seeing these pictures! The bottom one is still there, but has faded drastically! I used the mask usually every week and a half, sometimes every two weeks. I used it as a spot treatment on those marks too. Overall, I’m really happy with the outcome of the mask! I got it for $19.50 from Beauteque. I’m sure if you look for it on Amazon or something like that, you’ll be able to find it! Click here for my full review on the mask!

I hope this helps some of you! Feel free to comment or ask questions!

Curél: Body Wash and Moisturizing Spray Review

Hello everyone!

I received two products from Influenster that were free, to test and share what I thought about them. They are both products from the brand Curél. I had never heard of this brand before, so I was really intrigued. From what I understand, their specialty is a variety of lotions. They’re a dermatologist recommended brand and many of their products are approved by the National Eczema Association.

First, let’s start off with their Itch Defense Body Wash. It says that it’s a “calming cleanser for dry, itchy skin. Clinically proven to stop the itch before it starts”. On the back it says, “this soap-free formula is a unique blend of gentle cleansers and skin conditioners that creates a rich lather to gently cleanse and soothe itchy skin”. I was really impressed by this! My arms and back are usually very dry and my arms are always rough because I’m usually to lazy to moisturize. After I used this in the shower and dried off, my arms were very soft and smooth. That was surprising to me because they’re usually very dry, right after the shower. I love that it hydrates while you’re in the shower. The two ingrediants that seem to make this possible are jojoba and olive oils, which are in various moisturizing products. I also really like that it smells normal, like how you expect an unscented lotion to smell. My other shower products are heavily scented and sometimes give me a headache, so this was a nice change.

Curél Itch Defense Body Wash

The only downside to the body wash, is that it doesn’t lather well for me. No matter how much I put, I couldn’t build it up. So I just used my regular soap, then tried my best to scrub this after and it worked really well. Other than that, I have no complaints.

The second product they sent me, is the Itch Defense Instant Soothing Moisturizing Spray. The front of this says, “clinically proven to instantly relieve dry, itchy sky with cooling hydration”. The description on the back talks about it’s Advanced Ceramide Therapy, “Ceramides are naturally found in skin’s vulnerable outer layer and help skin retain moisture. When skin’s ceramide levels are low, skin has difficulty retaining moisture.” It goes on to say the Curél moisturizers replenish skin’s ceramide levels. My favorite thing about this is that it’s a spray nozzle! I hate regular lotions where you have to put them on your hands and then your hands get all sticky. You have to press a little harder than usual on the nozzle, but other than that, it works great. I like the cooling feeling of the spray, it provides a nice cooling sensation. It also doesn’t have any added fragrance. Compared to the body wash, this has more of a lingering “lotion” scent, though. It doesn’t bother me, but if you’re sensitive to that maybe try a sample.

Curél Itch Defense Instant Soothing Moisturizing Spray

I do like how well it moisturizes my skin, but it doesn’t last long for me. After about two hours or so, I need to apply more. I’m not sure if it’s because my skin is too dry or what, but it’s not long-lasting.

Overall, I was really happy to be able to try out these two products. I really like learning about the company and the fact that they have and are continuing to make products that help people with skin problems, such as eczema. It can make their days much easier, having something to alleviate the dryness/itchiness. I love the body wash and will definetely be purchasing that, but the moisturizing spray isn’t my cup of tea.

Let me know what you guys think and if you’ve tried this brand out before!

Annie’s Way: Arbutin + Hyaluronic Acid Brightening Jelly Mask

Hello everyone!

I wanted to share my thoughts on the Annie’s Way: Arbutin + Hyaluronic Acid Brightening Jelly Mask. I had mentioned this in my Beauteque Mini-Haul. It says, “whitening, moisturizing, minimizes fine lines, leaves skin radiantly bright. Suitable for dark and dry skin”. It comes with a little spatula, which you’re supposed to use to put the product on your face.

Annie's Way Arbutin + Hyaluronic Acid Brightening Jelly

The directions first want you to cleanse your face as you normally would. Then, use the spatula to put on the product, about .3 to .5 cm thick. Then, after 30 minutes, use the spatula to scoop the mask off.

The first thing I noticed about this mask, is that it stinks. I absolutely hate the smell, and I’m usually very tolerant with the smells of certain masks. This was definitely one of the worst I’ve smelled. So if you’re sensitive to that sort of thing, maybe this is not the right mask for you. It is very cooling to the skin, which is a nice feeling. I felt that “tightening” feeling, which is always good. I did have to use a lot of the product though. You get 250 ml of product, but it’s supposed to be layered to be about .3 cm- .5 cm thick, so I had to use a lot of it.

Annie's Way: Arbutin + Hyaluronic Acid

As you can see in the picture, the spatula is a good applicator, but you can’t really smooth the mask down. When I took the mask off though, I could see a difference! I didn’t put it all the way up to my hairline, and the part I missed was darker than the rest of my face. I’ve used the mask only a couple of times too, and to see a difference that fast is amazing. I’m using this to help my dark spots, and it’s been helping a lot. I’ll show you guys when they are as faded as they can get.

The only complaints I have about this mask are it’s smell and after you take it off. After I took it off, my skin was so dry! Around my lips, I had very obvious dry patches and my forehead had some too! I find it interesting the packaging says it’s suitable for dry skin, I feel like it would make it much worse. If you want to try this mask out, definitely keep a good moisturizer readily available to apply, as soon as you take it off. I paid $19.50 for this, from Beauteque.

Overall, I am going to continue using this mask. Even though it has a couple downsides, it does do the main thing it claims. I’ve been looking for something to help my dark spots for a long time, and this worked in a couple uses. If you want to check it out, you can find it on the Beauteque website here, or try Amazon.

Esfolio: Gold Mask Review

Hello everyone!

I apologize for not posting a lot lately, I’ve been really busy with classes and such. But it’s time for a new mask review!

I decided to try out the Esfolio: Gold Mask that I had received from my Mask Maven subscription.

Esfolio: Gold Mask

This masks’ main ingredient is Colloidal Gold. It’s basically just tiny, nano-particles of gold. The mask says that the gold provides elasticity and purification for skin. It’s supposed to give skin a healthy glow.

Esfolio: Gold Mask

I usually feel like the majority of sheet masks feel the same, but this one really impressed me. Usually, when you put a sheet mask on, you don’t feel anything really afterwards, maybe a cooling of the skin, but that’s it. With this one, I could feel my skin actually tightening. It’s hard to explain, but I felt it working. Also, the material of the mask is different from any other I’ve tried. It’s thicker and more cloth-like, while other masks feel more like paper. After you take off the mask, you’re supposed to rub in the remaining residue.

Overall, I highly recommend this mask! It definetely did what it said it would, promote elasticity and help your skin glow. I noticed my skin wasn’t its usual “dull” self after this mask.

Let me know what you guys think and what your favorite mask is!

Beauteque Mini-Haul

Happy Friday everyone!

Today, I’m so excited! My package from Beauteque came and I wanted to share it with you guys! For those of you who don’t know, Beauteque is a company that sells makeup and skincare items. The majority of them are Asian products, most of the ones I received are from Korea. Let’s face it guys, Korean products are probably the best. Have you seen their flawless, plump, skin?

I’ve been having some trouble with dark spots lately, and I know that treating them early is vital to getting rid of them. So, I browsed through Beauteque and found some products I thought would help.

First off, is the Cosrx Salicylic Acid Exfoliating Cleanser, which costs $12.00.

Cosrx Salicylic Acid Exfoliating Cleanser

It’s supposed to reduce breakouts and promote clearer skin. According to its description, it cleans thoroughly, pores and all.

Next, is the Benton Aloe Propolis Soothing Gel, which cost $16.00.

Benton Aloe Propolis Soothing Gel

I bought this one because I wanted a moisturizer that would really help my skin, not just moisturize it. It not only moisturizes, but is supposed to prevent bacteria, stopping acne.

The one I’m most excited about is the Annie’s Way Arbutin + Hyaluronic Acid Brightening Jelly Mask, which was $19.50.

Annie's Way Arbutin + Hyaluronic Acid Brightening Jelly

It’s so beautiful guys! It even comes with a spatula! I’ve been obsessed with this mask, because I’ve seen it a lot on Bubzbeauty’s youtube channel. When I saw it, I just had to get it. I’m hoping that this will help out a lot with my hyper-pigmentation. I’ll definitely let you guys know if it works!

Beauteque also sent me four skincare sample products, with my order.

Banana Hand Milk

Cosrx

Aloe BHA: Skin Toner

Overall guys, I’m so happy with my purchase! I also love their shipping time. I ordered this Monday and received it Friday, which is pretty good. I didn’t even pay for shipping because my order was over $50.00. Let me know down below if you’ve tried any of these products!

Mask Demo/Review: SNP Beijing Opera Brightening Mask

Happy Monday everyone!

I hope you’re all having a great start of the week! I wanted to share probably the coolest mask I’ve ever tried. It’s the SNP Beijing Opera Brightening Mask, which I received in one of my Mask Maven bags. Check out my video to see how awesome this mask looks!

SNP Beijing Opera Brightening Mask

SNP Beijing Opera Brightening Mask

This mask will forever be one of my favorite looking masks! I love the design that it had on it, and it made me feel like a very cool dragon/jabawacki! I even had a beard, it was great.

SNP Beijing Opera Brightening Mask

The mask says, “Brightening mask to restore dull and rough skin with radiant energy, delivering luminosity and softness.” You’re supposed have already cleaned your skin with your cleanser/toner. After you take off the mask, you just pat in the leftover residue and let it make your skin feel amazing.

Even though this mask is awesome to look at, I didn’t really feel that my skin got brighter. But, it did make my skin plump and soft, which is great!

I would definitely buy this mask again! Even though I didn’t get too many benefits, I just love the way it looks! If you need a Halloween costume, just wear this mask. You got a costume and you’re helping your skin, two birds with one stone!

I hope you guys enjoyed this and feel free to leave any questions/comments down below!

Giovanni D:Tox System Purifying Facial Mask

Happy Sunday everyone!

Today, I wanted to share a new mask that I discovered at TJ Maxx! Yes, TJ Maxx! I’m obsessed with their skincare section. They have such a variety of different products and brands I’ve never heard of, you definitely need to check it out! The mask is by the brand Giovanni and it’s their D:Tox System Purifying Facial Mask. Check out my video for a review/demo below!

I absolutely love this mask! It’s cooling to the skin and it doesn’t really have a scent to it. I also really loved that when you put it on, it’s gray, but when it dries it’s a blue color. That lets you know exactly when it’s done. It also only takes twenty minutes!

Giovanni D:Tox Purifying Facial Mask

The texture of the mask is like a moisturizing, type of clay. It’s very easy to put on and a little definitely goes a long way. After you wash the mask off, it makes your skin feel really clean. It has activated charcoal, volcanic ash, and super-antioxidants Acai, and Goji Berry. The activated charcoal and volcanic ash pull out the dirt and oil that’s on your face.

Giovanni D:Tox Purifying Facial Mask

The mask works very well, but I would recommend using this one time a week. Since it does have specific ingredients that pulls everything off of your skin, it can get very drying if you use it more than once. After you wash it off, definitely use a moisturizer!

Overall, I’m in love with this mask! It’s amazing when you have oily/greasy/humid days! Keeps everything clean and smooth! Also, it’s only 5.99 at Tj Maxx! It’s inexpensive and efficient! Let me know in the comments if you’ve tried it!

Hope you guys enjoyed! Thanks for reading!
