Today I want to talk about eyebrows. I don’t fill mine in at all, because well, I’m quite terrible at it. Every time I try, I end up looking like I have two fat, black caterpillars on my face. So it’s really important that I get them shaped up really well.
Threading is the most amazing thing for brows. It sounds painful, but it’s really not. It’s just a person using a special “twist” type of technique with thread. They twist it a certain way and are able to take out lots of stray hairs, way more than you would be able to do with a tweezer. I’ve been doing it for about 3 years and absolutley love it! I’ll never go back to waxing my brows. All of the waxing places I used to go to never got my eyebrows looking how I wanted. They always made them really thin, even though I have naturally thick eyebrows. It just didn’t look right, and they just grew back really fast, so I ended up going almost every 2 weeks! Also, many of the waxing places I went to seemed to follow the same “rule”. I’m sure many of you have heard of the eyebrow “golden ratio”. Here’s a quick picture if you haven’t.
The waxing places I went to followed this to a T. But the problem is this rule doesn’t work for everyone. Everyone’s eyebrows are obviously different. My eyebrows are quite long, and naturally started a little more in, than where the picture shows the “begin brow”. But the people who waxed them kept cutting them short, and basically messed up the entire look of my face. Hated it. But with the threading, they stay really close to how your brows are naturally, and let you keep thick eyebrows if you have it. They don’t have a set guide to how everyone’s eyebrow is supposed to look, other than the natural shape of the brow. Also, threading is safe for people with sensitive skin. A friend of mine went to get her brows waxed, and found out her skin was way too sensitive for the wax. The skin under the eyebrows swelled up and turned extremely red. It last for about 2 days! If you have sensitive skin, please be careful with waxing! Another big difference is that I can go a month without needing to get my eyebrows done again. After doing threading for a while, you’ll notice the hairs growing slower. It’s great.
Let me know which you guys prefer! Thanks for reading!
