Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer Review

Hello everyone!

Today, I wanted to share a review on the Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer Foundation. I’ve been using it for about two months and I really like it!

What it claims: Lightweight, moisturizing, does not clog pores, skin breathes, color is true (through sweat and humidity), one dip of the wand is enough for your entire face, and 12 hours of full-coverage.

At first, the foundation seemed a little darker than what I had swatched at the stoere, but it eventually adjusted and with some blending, it became the right color. They state that on the directions too, the first time you use it it might look darker because the pigment is so rich, but just blend it out.

I have acne prone skin and so far, this foundation has not broken me out. I have one or two zits here and there, but not enough to be from the foundation, especially since I use it everyday.

I have oily skin, so I was nervous when the foundation said it was moisturizing, but there was nothing to fear. The foundation on my forehead, chin, temple, and outer cheek area stay put throughout the day. I typically where makeup for about eight to ten hours, so I think that’s a decent amount of time. The foundation around my lips and nose/pore area tends to settle into a couple lines. I figure it’s because I’m oily and when I talk and drink, of course it’s going to settle into those fine lines. Recently, I started using the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder, and it has helped reduce that effect, but of course, it’s not totally gone. The method that helped me is instead of pressing it in with a damp beauty blender, I used a powder puff and really pressed the powder into my pores. I haven’t broken out or anything, and my oiliness has reduced quite a bit.

With oily skin, primers are a necessity. Recently, I’ve been using the NYX Photoready Primer all over my face and the NYX Pore Primer on the larger pores around my nose. these primers have really helped the foundation stay in place.

The coverage is perfect. It’s full-coverage and you don’t need that much product. Usually one dip is enough for me. It takes care of my dark spots and hyper-pigmentation very well!

I love that it’s also good for concealing at the same time. Perfect 2 in 1 product. I would recommend using the tip end of the brush to conceal blemishes. I like how it covers up dark spots and blemishes, but I hate how it makes my under-eyes look. Definitely use an actual under-eye concealer for dark circles. I think that since my under-eyes are so dark and different from the color of my face, it gives it a weird shade compared to the rest of the foundation on my face.

The price is not that bad for a brand like Clinique. I purchased mine from Belk for $28, which is actually very inexpensive for the amount you get, which is 1 oz. There are some foundations that are more expensive and you get less product, so the price doesn’t bother me at all.

I really like the packaging as well! It’s in a long, glass bottle, which usually I wouldn’t like, but it’s thick enough to where it has a smaller chance of breaking if I drop it, (which I have done, multiple times).

Also, the applicator is interesting. It’s not my favorite, but I don’t hate it. It’s a neutral feeling. I do like that the brush picks up a lot of product, and the claim that one dose of the brush is enough is totally true! I just dot it all around my face and that’s enough.

Overall, I think this is a great foundation. It’s not mattifying by any means, but with some primer and setting powder, people with oily skin can definitely use this. The coverage is amazing and you can use it for targeting blemishes at the same time. The price is not crazy and you get a decent amount. FOUNDATION APPROVED.

Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette: First Impression

Hello everyone!

Hope you’re enjoying the week so far. I wanted to share my first impression of the TooFaced Sweet Peach Palette.

If you want to actually see it, my video review is below.

First of all, I love the packaging. It’s a pretty pink/peachy ombrè color and has a cute peach logo. One of the best parts of the palette is the fact that it is a magnetic open/close. No need to pry it open and break your nails, so easy to open!

Another great aspect of the palette, is the SMELL. I know, I know, if you’ve been reading reviews on this, it’s all anyone’s talking about. But let me tell you guys, it is amazing. Now, I haven’t had a peach in a long time, but if they smell like the palette, I’m definitely going to be eating some.

So far, I’ve only used the peach colors and the matte two shades at the lower right. The peach colors show up well on my eyelids, but the other ones I have to work with a little bit more. I have dark eyelids, so I usually use a white base to make colors pop, so I think that’s the problem. Other than that, the colors are great! I think you get a great variety of bright shades, transitions, mattes, and shimmers. The mattes are highly pigmented and a little goes a long way. I do find myself dipping in the shimmery colors a couple times, just so I can get them to pop a little more.

The only complaint I really have is the price tag. I think I spent about $50 from Ulta. Yup. I know. It has a crazy price tag, but I don’t really have any high-end palettes, and I really liked the variety of colors (also the smell), and swallowed my guilt and purchased it.

That’s about it for my first impression of this palette. I’d love to know what you guys think! Thank you so much for reading!

Inexpensive Earrings from AliExpress

Hello everyone!

Hope you’re having a relaxing Sunday! Today I wanted to share some really cool, (and super inexpensive) earrings from AliExpress. Don’t worry, it’s not a sponsored post or anything, (I wish), just my honest review! Hope you guys enjoy and check it out!

I got these earrings from Dorado HongYe Jewelry on AliExpress. For those of you who don’t know what AliExpress is, it’s an online and app store that has a variety of different products for extremely inexpensive prices.

I paid only $1.43, (now they are $1.57), for them, which is amazing! Click here to view the page with the earrings. I thoroughly looked at all the reviews, especially the pictures some users posted. They looked very nice, so I thought, why not? It’s only about $2. So I bit the bullet and ordered them, and I completely love them!

I wasn’t sure if they would look cheap, but they look like normal fashion jewelry. The material is crystal and zinc alloy. It feels very sturdy, not like anything is going to break anytime soon. I also chose the gold detailed earrings, the other options are rose-gold and silver.

The only issue I was worried about when it would arrive. Majority of everything on the site is from China, so arrival times are expected to be at least a month or two. In the automatic note I received when I ordered, it said if I have not received the package in 45 days, to contact the seller. So I was expecting to wait a super long time.

I ordered it on February 17th and received it on March 9th. Took a little less than three weeks, which is much better than what I expected. I was thinking it would take two months.

Honestly, I think I just got lucky, because I’m waiting for a couple other packages, but this seller shipped it faster, so I received it quicker. That’s the only downside, you’re not sure when you’ll receive your products, so always order in advance!

Other than that, only buy products that have reviews. Like Ebay or Amazon, there are always sketchy shops that you need to beware of, so just use common sense and make sure it’s a legit store.

Overall, I’m extremely happy with purchase and definitely looking forward to purchasing more from this store!

Hope you guys enjoyed and leave any questions/comments! Thanks for reading!

College Safety Doubts

Hello everyone!

I tried doing a post a day, but unfortunately I skipped the last couple days, so I’m going to try again. Today’s topic is Doubt via Daily Prompt.

It made me think about a rape case that’s going on at my school right now. A football player is accused of raping and assaulting a female student, and has been suspended from the football team.

But, when I was about to take my midterm, my professor did a little spiel on cheating and academic dishonesty. It caught my attention because he said that anyone caught cheating will have a high possibility of people expelled and that it happened to two of his students, even when cheating was their first offense.

It made me doubt what the college said about taking the rape case seriously and my safety as a female in general. How can a student who cheated get expelled, yet a student who raped someone is only suspended? That’s messed up in so many ways. It shows the priorities that my school, and I believe many schools have.

Thinking about that makes me feel sad for the girl who was raped and other girls who have been sexually assaulted. I understand that before the school suspends someone for rape, they need to confirm and make sure that the story isn’t made up because some people do lie about it. But this person has had multiple assault charges all at different schools, and I just don’t understand how he is still considered a student. It just makes me sick and feel horrible for the girl who had to go through that traumatic experience because of him.

Sorry that this post was depressing, but it’s just what the topic made me think about. Feel free to leave any comments.

Youtube Vlogs?

Hello everyone!

Phew, cutting it close to missing a daily post. The reason I want to do daily posts is to make sure that I write every day. Whether it’s from a daily prompt or whatever I want to talk to you guys about, I want to be in the habit of posting. Just thought I would get that out there because I started daily posts without really saying anything.

Anyway, this is just a short blurb on what I’m thinking about doing with my Youtube channel, (pssst…subscribe). I tend to do a lot of makeup tutorials, unboxings, DIY’s, and a couple random product videos, like unboxing tea.

Recently, I’ve had a lot of random thoughts on my mind that I wanted to get out. Most of the time it’s about things I’ve learned from class that day and want to talk a little more about it.

So, I’m thinking about doing vlogs where I do just that; talk about whatever I want. What do you guys think? It’s not going to be me going somewhere cool or anything like that. Just me in my room, telling you about things that have been on my mind.

I know this seems like a dumb idea to deliberate, because everyone does that, but it’s because the content of my channel isn’t about that. I suppose there are a lot of people who have their ‘opinion’ vlogs, but it’s usually on a different channel than their main content.

It’s random, but I would love some opinions. Also if you’re a fellow Youtuber, let me know and I would love to check out your videos and support you!

Gold and Shimmery Full-Faced Tutorial (Video)

Hello lovelies!

Today I finally have a beauty post for all of you! I know I’ve been doing a lot of the daily prompts, but those really help get my thoughts out and I hope that you guys don’t mind too much.

But today is a beauty day! I created this gold and shimmery eye look, using a mixture of NYX’s Natural pallete and their Dubai palette. It’s a full-face tutorial, using the Clinique Foundation and Concealer foundation, which I will definitely be doing a separate post on.

Thank you so much for reading and feel free to leave any comments!

Expecting Unexpectedly

Hello everyone,

Today’s topic came to my mind via Daily Prompt: Baby.

Recently, a friend of mine announced she was pregnant. She’s the first one among my group of friends to have a child. Everyone congratulated her and so did I, but in the back of my mind, I was wondering why. I know, that sounds like a horrible thing to say, but it’s honestly what I wondered.

She has such a bright future, and I know she still does. She’s a hard worker and very smart, even with an unexpected pregnancy, I know she’ll achieve her goals. But, I just felt sad for her because I know it’ll be a hindrance. Am I a horrible person for thinking that?

A lot of people I know who have kids or are pregnant, aren’t married. I know, I know, it’s 2017, who cares if they’re married are not. I’m not coming for a judgmental viewpoint, but a logical one, at least to me it is. I might be putting this in cold, logical terms, but having someone contracted to be with me forever means double financial help to raise this little person. I’m twenty-two and the people with kids I know are all around the same age, or younger. Many of them weren’t in college or stopped going after the pregnancy.

I just…I feel sad for them because they weren’t able to experience things like college, their first apartments, living alone in general, travelling, the freedom to do whatever they want for themselves. It’s like they lived dependent on their parents, still in their parents home and now all of a sudden, a little person is dependent on them.

I have no clue how they handle the financial burden. That’s what scares me the most, I can barely pay my rent, much less a child and all that comes with it. Also, they’re now kind of now stuck with someone for life…a lot of friends were dating their significant others for maybe six months and now they have a kid together. To me that’s absolutely crazy, I know it’s unexpected to them too.

I just wanted to get my thoughts out about unexpected pregnancies. I don’t think less of people who that happens to, but I think that now a chunk of fun and life is gone. I know that babies bring people happiness and love, but it’s just different…I don’t know exactly how to put my thoughts into words. If any of you have any comments, even if it’s to argue my opinions, please share. I would love to have an inkling of what goes through peoples minds when they find out they’re expecting, unexpectedly.

Thank you for reading!

Can’t Talk, Must Run

Hello all,

Today’s topic is Slur, via Daily Prompt: Slur. It made me think about slurring words, but not because I’m intoxicated. Because I am a horrible public speaker.

I know a lot of you can relate to that too. I always feel fine before presenting anything, but as soon as I get up in front of people or even just speaking at my desk, I start to get heart palpitations. It’s the horrible human instinct of fight or flight when you feel all eyes on you, and it sucks.

I looked up a lot of tips to help ease the nervousness, but nothing helps. My words are always too fast, too shaky, slurred, and just overall the entire thing is pretty embarrassing. People say practice makes perfect, but I’ve done speeches my entire academic life, and it hasn’t gotten better.

Sometimes, I just have to accept that I’ll be a bad presenter. I have done better when it was a topic I was interested in, such as Sea World, but on assigned speeches where I have no choice, boy oh boy do I suck.

Let me know if you guys have had the same experience with public speaking, you know wavering voice, shaking body, slurring words, and sweat everywhere…the normal.

Tea Unboxing & Tasting

Hello all my lovely people!

I recently got in touch with the owner of the store Good Life Tea, via his instagram. He was generous enough to send me six of their most popular teas and I made an unboxing video of it all! So far I’ve tasted the Belgian Chocolate Rooibos tea, the Kyoto Cherry Rose Organic Green tea, and the Last Mango in Paris tea. They’re all delicious, but my favorite is definitely the Last Mango in Paris so far. It’s such a delicious, fruity tea! Check out my unboxing:

To all my tea lovers out there: What’s your favorite?
