Kaepop Colourpop Lip Swatch

Hello everyone!

Sorry for not posting lately! That’s going to change, I swear. But today, I have a COLOURPOP LIPSWATCH for you guys. I love Colourpop and I really like Karrueche Tran. Colourpop had a 20% off sale, so I purchased the Colourpop x Karrueche Kpop collection.

Without further ado, here they are:

Saigon: Ultra Matte Lip

I usually stay away from reds because I think they look weird on my skin tone, but I absolutely love this! Such a beautiful red and it lasts basically all day. It’s a true red and ultra matte.

Chi: Ultra Matte Lip

At first, I thought that this color was too light for me, but turns out it’s a really good nude for tan/medium skin. On fairer skin, it looks like a mauve/brown. I recommend searching on Youtube and Instagram for people who are similar skin tones to you for this color.

Rooch: Ultra Matte Lip

This lip is the ultra vampy purple lip! I love it. It’s a very deep wine color and I think anyone can rock this!

Sorry Ladies, One Gray Hair and Your Life is Over.

Hello everyone!

Today, I wanted to talk about the double-standards of aging between men and women. When men start aging, going gray, having some wrinkles, they are seen by society as distinguished, independent, wise, ‘silver foxes’, and handsome. When it’s an older women, she is seen more as dependent, unproductive, unhealthy, and should be taking better care of herself. God forbid a woman has a gray hair, she either has to pluck it or dye it. Ironically, older women tend to live longer than men, so many women are not unhealthy.

Don’t worry, I know most people don’t tend to think like this. But, media portrayals through various mediums like magazines and television, are rampant with ageism between the sexes.

For example, Miriam O’Reilly, an Irish TV host, sued BBC for age discrimination in 2010. At that time she was 51. She used to be one of the presenters for their show CountryFile, until they dropped her for younger presenters. They replaced her with younger presenters, but kept John Craven, who had been on the show since it began about 20 years before the lawsuit, who was 68 at the time. Sure, he had been with the BBC for a long time, but O’Reilly had also contributed to the BBC for about 20 years. The BBC told her that they wanted a new presenter to appeal to youth.

O’Reilly experienced comments such as “time for Botox” and “careful with those wrinkles when high definition comes in”. O’Reilly won her case. The BBC apologized and still wanted to work with her because she had been with them for so long.

O’Reilly stated that “The idea that wrinkles or grey hair can sound the death knell for the careers of female TV presenters is beyond appalling, especially in a country where over a third of the population is aged 50 and over.” Truth. I got my information for this case from the BBC’s article about it and the agedicrimination.info website.

A more familiar example might be the hate that Hillary Clinton faced during the election. Whether or not you like her or not, you can’t deny that many people were put off by her age and the fact that she was a woman. She’s 69 and Donald Trump is only a year older, yet he stated “Well, I just don’t think she has a presidential look, and you need a presidential look” and states that he thinks she lacks stamina.

Older women have mainly been represented as the “grandmother and cookies” generalization. Strong, smart, and leaders are not words that people, or at least any form of media has associated with older women. Those adjectives are used with men.

I’m not saying that it’s not true that older men are smart and independent, but why can’t it be true for women also? Why does it only have to be men who are aging nicely and not women?

Friends Forever?

Hello everyone!

Recently I was thinking about the idea of “friends forever” and how life really is. Since I’ve been to college, I’ve kept in touch with three close friends from high school, but I’ve had a strange falling out with one, who I was really close to.

I feel like after high school, who you want to keep in your life is really up to you. You have to make the effort or else the friendship will just tend to fade away. Of course, there are some people who I haven’t spoken to in a year, but I can still text and call them almost as though nothing has changed. But for the majority of people, you tend to revert back to virtually strangers.

After high school, whether you go to college or get a job, the people you meet then are the ones that will have an impact and will most likely befriend.

I feel like the difference between high school friends and “real world” friends is the fact that friends you make post-high school tend to have more in common with you. Sure, you have things in common with high school friends, but you’re still kind of forced to be around them because you’re stuck in the same place for years, same classroom, and same people. Everyone knows everyone, and they all already know you.

After high school, if you leave your hometown, you get to redefine who you are. You get to introduce yourself to people how you want and not have your past define you.

My friends that I’ve made in college all have the same general outlooks as I do for my future. We want to be successful and independent. I know you might be thinking isn’t that everyone’s goals? No. People I was friends with in high school had goals of staying in town and getting married, which is totally fine. We all have different wants in life, but because our goals were so different, we had completely different mindsets.

I guess my point of this post is to let people know that after high school, you’re only going to stay friends if you put in the effort. But, you’re going to meet so many people who share the same beliefs and future that you want. Don’t feel like you have to stick to someone just because you were friends, sometimes you do need to move on.

Senioritis

Hello everyone!

Yesterday, I skipped all of my classes and did absolutely nothing. Why? Because I just didn’t want to go. But don’t worry, I’ve only missed like two classes the entire semester, not a chronic skipper.

But I realized that I graduate in almost a month and started panicking. No job set up, still have to pass current classes, and I have no idea what I want to do.

All I could think is TIME IS RUNNING OUT.

When I woke up today, I took a breathe and thought through everything. It’s amazing how we can stress ourselves out so easily. So what if I don’t have a job lined up? There’s no rule that says I need a ‘real job’ out of college. It would be nice, but I can always do part-time jobs, while I look for the right job.

I don’t need to stress out about my classes because I’ve done virtually everything and received decent grades. I realized that I should just enjoy the time I have left, and focus on my graduation day. I want to make it as fun and memorable as it can be.

I guess my point of this post is to remind everyone that we do have time. Don’t stress yourself out like I did, and if you do, take a minute and remember that there’s no ultimatium or rule that you have to follow. Just living in the moment and get what you need to get done at this moment, before worrying months ahead.

Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer Review

Hello everyone!

Today, I wanted to share a review on the Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer Foundation. I’ve been using it for about two months and I really like it!

What it claims: Lightweight, moisturizing, does not clog pores, skin breathes, color is true (through sweat and humidity), one dip of the wand is enough for your entire face, and 12 hours of full-coverage.

At first, the foundation seemed a little darker than what I had swatched at the stoere, but it eventually adjusted and with some blending, it became the right color. They state that on the directions too, the first time you use it it might look darker because the pigment is so rich, but just blend it out.

I have acne prone skin and so far, this foundation has not broken me out. I have one or two zits here and there, but not enough to be from the foundation, especially since I use it everyday.

I have oily skin, so I was nervous when the foundation said it was moisturizing, but there was nothing to fear. The foundation on my forehead, chin, temple, and outer cheek area stay put throughout the day. I typically where makeup for about eight to ten hours, so I think that’s a decent amount of time. The foundation around my lips and nose/pore area tends to settle into a couple lines. I figure it’s because I’m oily and when I talk and drink, of course it’s going to settle into those fine lines. Recently, I started using the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder, and it has helped reduce that effect, but of course, it’s not totally gone. The method that helped me is instead of pressing it in with a damp beauty blender, I used a powder puff and really pressed the powder into my pores. I haven’t broken out or anything, and my oiliness has reduced quite a bit.

With oily skin, primers are a necessity. Recently, I’ve been using the NYX Photoready Primer all over my face and the NYX Pore Primer on the larger pores around my nose. these primers have really helped the foundation stay in place.

The coverage is perfect. It’s full-coverage and you don’t need that much product. Usually one dip is enough for me. It takes care of my dark spots and hyper-pigmentation very well!

I love that it’s also good for concealing at the same time. Perfect 2 in 1 product. I would recommend using the tip end of the brush to conceal blemishes. I like how it covers up dark spots and blemishes, but I hate how it makes my under-eyes look. Definitely use an actual under-eye concealer for dark circles. I think that since my under-eyes are so dark and different from the color of my face, it gives it a weird shade compared to the rest of the foundation on my face.

The price is not that bad for a brand like Clinique. I purchased mine from Belk for $28, which is actually very inexpensive for the amount you get, which is 1 oz. There are some foundations that are more expensive and you get less product, so the price doesn’t bother me at all.

I really like the packaging as well! It’s in a long, glass bottle, which usually I wouldn’t like, but it’s thick enough to where it has a smaller chance of breaking if I drop it, (which I have done, multiple times).

Also, the applicator is interesting. It’s not my favorite, but I don’t hate it. It’s a neutral feeling. I do like that the brush picks up a lot of product, and the claim that one dose of the brush is enough is totally true! I just dot it all around my face and that’s enough.

Overall, I think this is a great foundation. It’s not mattifying by any means, but with some primer and setting powder, people with oily skin can definitely use this. The coverage is amazing and you can use it for targeting blemishes at the same time. The price is not crazy and you get a decent amount. FOUNDATION APPROVED.

Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette: First Impression

Hello everyone!

Hope you’re enjoying the week so far. I wanted to share my first impression of the TooFaced Sweet Peach Palette.

If you want to actually see it, my video review is below.

First of all, I love the packaging. It’s a pretty pink/peachy ombrè color and has a cute peach logo. One of the best parts of the palette is the fact that it is a magnetic open/close. No need to pry it open and break your nails, so easy to open!

SweetPeachAmandaSushma

Another great aspect of the palette, is the SMELL. I know, I know, if you’ve been reading reviews on this, it’s all anyone’s talking about. But let me tell you guys, it is amazing. Now, I haven’t had a peach in a long time, but if they smell like the palette, I’m definitely going to be eating some.

So far, I’ve only used the peach colors and the matte two shades at the lower right. The peach colors show up well on my eyelids, but the other ones I have to work with a little bit more. I have dark eyelids, so I usually use a white base to make colors pop, so I think that’s the problem. Other than that, the colors are great! I think you get a great variety of bright shades, transitions, mattes, and shimmers. The mattes are highly pigmented and a little goes a long way. I do find myself dipping in the shimmery colors a couple times, just so I can get them to pop a little more.

SweetPeachShadowsAmandaSushma

The only complaint I really have is the price tag. I think I spent about $50 from Ulta. Yup. I know. It has a crazy price tag, but I don’t really have any high-end palettes, and I really liked the variety of colors (also the smell), and swallowed my guilt and purchased it.

That’s about it for my first impression of this palette. I’d love to know what you guys think! Thank you so much for reading!

Inexpensive Earrings from AliExpress

Hello everyone!

Hope you’re having a relaxing Sunday! Today I wanted to share some really cool, (and super inexpensive) earrings from AliExpress. Don’t worry, it’s not a sponsored post or anything, (I wish), just my honest review! Hope you guys enjoy and check it out!

I got these earrings from Dorado HongYe Jewelry on AliExpress. For those of you who don’t know what AliExpress is, it’s an online and app store that has a variety of different products for extremely inexpensive prices.

I paid only $1.43, (now they are $1.57), for them, which is amazing! Click here to view the page with the earrings. I thoroughly looked at all the reviews, especially the pictures some users posted. They looked very nice, so I thought, why not? It’s only about $2. So I bit the bullet and ordered them, and I completely love them!

IMG_2079

I wasn’t sure if they would look cheap, but they look like normal fashion jewelry. The material is crystal and zinc alloy. It feels very sturdy, not like anything is going to break anytime soon. I also chose the gold detailed earrings, the other options are rose-gold and silver.

EarringsPackaging

The only issue I was worried about when it would arrive. Majority of everything on the site is from China, so arrival times are expected to be at least a month or two. In the automatic note I received when I ordered, it said if I have not received the package in 45 days, to contact the seller. So I was expecting to wait a super long time.

I ordered it on February 17th and received it on March 9th. Took a little less than three weeks, which is much better than what I expected. I was thinking it would take two months.

Earringsout

Honestly, I think I just got lucky, because I’m waiting for a couple other packages, but this seller shipped it faster, so I received it quicker. That’s the only downside, you’re not sure when you’ll receive your products, so always order in advance!

Other than that, only buy products that have reviews. Like Ebay or Amazon, there are always sketchy shops that you need to beware of, so just use common sense and make sure it’s a legit store.

Overall, I’m extremely happy with purchase and definitely looking forward to purchasing more from this store!

Hope you guys enjoyed and leave any questions/comments! Thanks for reading!
