Eye Buy Direct Review

Hello everyone!

I am a person who tends to wear contacts every single day. For anyone who can relate, I’m sure you’ve heard your optometrist say “you should give your eyes some breathing time, and wear your glasses once a week”. Now listen, I think we all know how much glasses with prescriptions from our doctor’s office or places like LensCrafters can cost. Usually in the three-digit range, even with insurance.

I wanted to find a different, more affordable option. That’s when I found the company Eye Buy Direct. I remember telling a cashier at Forever 21 I liked her glasses, and she had mentioned them. I’m so glad I took a chance and checked out their website! And no, I’m not sponsored or anything. I bought these myself and this is my honest review.

The website it pretty easy to navigate and is has an easy layout to work with. You can filter out many things such as the color, price, shape of the frames, and the size. My favorite feature is that you can “try on” the glasses by uploading a picture of yourself. It gives a preview of what you will look like with those frames, and I found it to be a decent estimation.

After hours of searching and reading reviews, I decided to purchase the Hepburn frames in the color Ivory Tortoise. I added my prescription, anti-glare, UV protection, and a brown case for and extra five dollars.

They arrived right when they were supposed to and came in the super chic and minimal black box. The case I purchased is brown leather (definitely faux), but it looks so classy and simple.

The glasses themselves were exactly as pictured. They sit well on my face, but the company also sends an adjustment tool with your package, so you can adjust it if necessary. Also, quick tip, you can go into any LensCrafter’s and get your glasses adjusted for free.

I love the style of these glasses. The ivory tortoise design is professional, yet fashionable, adding a nice touch. It’s perfect for work, but can also go with casual looks. Before these, my other glasses were a tiny rectangle shape, with an all black frame. I didn’t like it and only wore it at home. I’ve definitely been wearing my new glasses out and about, and have gotten a lot of compliments on them.

So, price-wise, these are amazing. The frames were $40 and with all of the things I added, the total came to $62.95. But, EyeBuyDirect seems to have a lot of deals and have a lot of social media promoters. I checked their Instagram and saw that on their story, they showed someone’s promotion link with a code. I used the code and got $15 off my purchase. I chose regular shipping which was $5.95, so my overall total was $53.16. That is a great price compared to the typical retail glass-wear stores.

They have a lot of different style options, with varying prices. Most of the ones I saw were from $22-$70. I think it has something for everyone, they also have sunglasses as well.

Let me know what you guys thinks and if you have a favorite place to purchase your glasses! Thanks so much for reading! Follow me on Instagram and Twitter at AmandaSushma. Also, check out my video review on these glasses here.

THE BIG CHOP!

Hello everyone!

Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving! I just wanted to share an update about myself that I’m excited about. I did the big chop, chopping off 10 inches of hair. I know it may not seem like such a big deal, but I’ve had really long hair ever since I was young. One day I just felt spontaneous and took my butt to Great Clips and asked her to chop it off.

It’s a new and fun change, and just reminded me that we worry about the smallest things. I’m not sure why I was so nervous, maybe because I cared about what people thought, but that’s totally out the window.

I just wanted to share this update with you guys, just in case someone needed a little push to do something they’ve been itching to do!

Hope you guys enjoyed!

Fun Purple Night Out Look

Hello everyone!

I have a fun glittery and purple look for you guys today! I felt a little burned out from work yesterday, and then I looked at my makeup and felt really creative. Creating new looks really helps lessen my stress and I love doing it!

So without further ado, here’s the look. It’s pretty simple actually. I used three different shades of purple eyeshadows, a gold liner, and a white pencil liner.

I used two palette’s, the Makeup Revolution palette and the Sweet Peach palette from Too-Face.

First, from the Makeup Revolution palette, I used the lightest shade of purple on my inner corners. Then, I took the purple shade next to it and swept it across the rest of my lids.

For the outer corners, I took a little of the dark purple from the Sweet Peach palette, and carefully blended that out.

I created a simple wing with my gold glitter eyeliner for NYX. Then, I finished the look off with lining my water liner with white pencil liner from NYX.

I hope you guys enjoyed this look! Thanks for reading!

Female Side-Burn Love

Hello everyone!

Hope you’re all having an amazing start of the week so far! Today, I have something a little different I wanted to talk about. It’s sideburns.

At my job, a customer told me I should get my sideburns waxed. Mind you, we weren’t having a conversation about that at all. She just randomly said it, and it made me feel insecure, like middle-school all over again.

But that feeling only lasted for a second, because I remembered that I had waxed them back in middle school, and had absolutely hated it. So that’s what I told her, and she said that I should still think about it. She did it and it changed her life, apparently. Just letting you guys know, this is a white, blonde woman telling this to me. I’m a medium-tan olive complexion, with black hair.

That interaction really irked me. I don’t really like when people you don’t know try and tell you what to do, you know what I mean.

Anyway, back on topic. Female sideburns. Now it’s 2017, a great time for female hair growth. The brows, lashes, legs, pits, so why can’t  sideburns be on that list too? Well guess what, they’re on mine.

I used to feel really ugly back in my younger days, surrounded by gorgeous blonde girls, who virtually had no hair. When I started wearing makeup, was when I noticed my sideburns.

I begged my mom to let me wax them, and let me tell you, worst experience ever! I can stand the pain because I used to get my eyebrows waxed, (threaded now). But, the aftermath was the worst. I had little, irritated, red bumps and the hair started growing back coarse. It was more obvious when they were growing back because it was like black dots on my face. Super itchy and annoying, and makeup couldn’t cover it.

Eventually, I learned to accept and actually like my sideburns. Honestly, I looked weird without them.

And, it made me feel better to know that many of my favorite celebrities also loved their sideburns. Like Aishwarya Rai and Alia Bhatt, (pictured below), two really great Bollywood actresses.

If you want to get rid of your sideburns, go for it. What I want you to take away from this post, is do it because you want to, not because some judgmental person put it into your head. Also, be prepared and exfoliate so you don’t get those nasty red bumps like I did.

I’d love to know your thoughts on this! Thanks so much for reading!

Black Opal: True Color Stick Foundation SPF 15 Review

Hello everyone!

Today I wanted to share my review on the Black Opal True Color Stick Foundation with SPF 15. I was really excited to try my first Black Opal product. I really want to start giving money to cosmetic companies who really push diversity, and I thought Black Opal was the perfect place to start. They have the perfect shades for women and men of color. I’m Indian, with a medium-olive complexion and I was able to find my perfect shade, which is Cashew.

blackopaljoined

First of all, the packaging of the product is the most convenient packaging I’ve ever witnessed. FYI, this is my first stick foundation ever, so I didn’t realize how nice and easy it was. It’s basically a small cylinder, all black, with the company and foundation information on it. It has a cap that’s clear at the top, and you just have to turn the cylinder to get the product to come up. It’s so easy, hygienic, and not messy at all.

To apply this product to my face, I basically drew lines all over my face with it, since the product is in a nice compact case. It’s a cream type of product, and the description states it gives you a velvety-matte finish.

I applied this product two different ways: one half of my face I did it with a brush, the other half I used a beauty sponge from Real Techniques. I don’t recommend a beauty sponge because for me, it didn’t blend very well at all. I liked how it blended out with a regular face brush, but I did spray my brush with the Mario Badescu rose water and aloe spray.

The coverage is medium to full. I have quite a few dark spots from acne, and I did about two layers and they were all covered up. Also, my redness was perfectly covered as well.

Unfortunately, this product did not work for me. In the pictures below, you can see that it left my skin looking streaky, dry, and very bad overall. Before applying the foundation, I moisturized, applied primer, and I have oily skin, so it doesn’t make any sense as to why my skin looked like that. I’m not sure if it’s because I have textured skin and large pores.

I really wanted this foundation to work out, so I waited a couple days and tried it again, thinking maybe it was something I did wrong, but I still received the same result.

I found the Black Opal brand in a Walmart near me, but this is the only Walmart around me that it’s in. From what I understand, it just varies by area, and it could be found in Walgreens, RiteAid, etc, depending on where you are. You can also check out their website by clicking here. I paid about $10 for it, which I think is good for the amount of product you get and how creamy it is. If it had worked for me, it would be even better.

Just because this product didn’t work out for me, doesn’t mean it won’t work for you. The reason I purchased this one specifically is because of all the great reviews, but because of my bad luck, it didn’t work for me. If I looked at myself from a couple feet away, the foundation looked really good. Like a better version of my skin, but up close, it was obviously streaky and dry looking.

I will definitely continue trying more Black Opal products, because just because one product didn’t work for me, doesn’t mean the others won’t. If you guys have any recommendations for Black Opal or from any cosmetic company similar to them, I would love to hear it.

Thank you for reading!
