Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer Review

Hello everyone!

Today, I wanted to share a review on the Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer Foundation. I’ve been using it for about two months and I really like it!

What it claims: Lightweight, moisturizing, does not clog pores, skin breathes, color is true (through sweat and humidity), one dip of the wand is enough for your entire face, and 12 hours of full-coverage.

At first, the foundation seemed a little darker than what I had swatched at the stoere, but it eventually adjusted and with some blending, it became the right color. They state that on the directions too, the first time you use it it might look darker because the pigment is so rich, but just blend it out.

I have acne prone skin and so far, this foundation has not broken me out. I have one or two zits here and there, but not enough to be from the foundation, especially since I use it everyday.

I have oily skin, so I was nervous when the foundation said it was moisturizing, but there was nothing to fear. The foundation on my forehead, chin, temple, and outer cheek area stay put throughout the day. I typically where makeup for about eight to ten hours, so I think that’s a decent amount of time. The foundation around my lips and nose/pore area tends to settle into a couple lines. I figure it’s because I’m oily and when I talk and drink, of course it’s going to settle into those fine lines. Recently, I started using the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder, and it has helped reduce that effect, but of course, it’s not totally gone. The method that helped me is instead of pressing it in with a damp beauty blender, I used a powder puff and really pressed the powder into my pores. I haven’t broken out or anything, and my oiliness has reduced quite a bit.

With oily skin, primers are a necessity. Recently, I’ve been using the NYX Photoready Primer all over my face and the NYX Pore Primer on the larger pores around my nose. these primers have really helped the foundation stay in place.

The coverage is perfect. It’s full-coverage and you don’t need that much product. Usually one dip is enough for me. It takes care of my dark spots and hyper-pigmentation very well!

I love that it’s also good for concealing at the same time. Perfect 2 in 1 product. I would recommend using the tip end of the brush to conceal blemishes. I like how it covers up dark spots and blemishes, but I hate how it makes my under-eyes look. Definitely use an actual under-eye concealer for dark circles. I think that since my under-eyes are so dark and different from the color of my face, it gives it a weird shade compared to the rest of the foundation on my face.

The price is not that bad for a brand like Clinique. I purchased mine from Belk for $28, which is actually very inexpensive for the amount you get, which is 1 oz. There are some foundations that are more expensive and you get less product, so the price doesn’t bother me at all.

I really like the packaging as well! It’s in a long, glass bottle, which usually I wouldn’t like, but it’s thick enough to where it has a smaller chance of breaking if I drop it, (which I have done, multiple times).

Also, the applicator is interesting. It’s not my favorite, but I don’t hate it. It’s a neutral feeling. I do like that the brush picks up a lot of product, and the claim that one dose of the brush is enough is totally true! I just dot it all around my face and that’s enough.

Overall, I think this is a great foundation. It’s not mattifying by any means, but with some primer and setting powder, people with oily skin can definitely use this. The coverage is amazing and you can use it for targeting blemishes at the same time. The price is not crazy and you get a decent amount. FOUNDATION APPROVED.

Makeup + OOTD

Hello everyone!

Today, I’m heading out for a casual hangout with some friends. I thought that I would share my simple outfit and easy makeup look. Hope you guys enjoy!

First, I applied Garnier Moisture Rescue Refreshing Gel-Cream, to moisturize my skin. Then, I used the NYX Pore Filler around and on my nose.  The “before” is with both of those two products on. The foundation I used was the L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation, in the color Caramel Beige.

Next, I had to work on my awful dark circles. I color-corrected with the lipstick Chaos, from NYX. If you have no idea why I did that, click here. After I massaged it in with my fingers, I applied my Benefit Cosmetics Boi-ing Concealer, which is in Shade 02- Light to Medium. The difference is amazing!

After that, I just did what was left.

  • Brows: NYX’s Tame and Frame: Tinted Brow Pomade in Black
  • Liner: Wet N’ Wild’s Mega Liner in Black Sparkle
  • Mascara: Clinique’s High Impact Mascara in Black.
  • Powder: Ben Nye’s Luxury Powder in Banana
  • Blush: Clinique Chubby Stick Cheek Colour Balm in 02 Robust Rhubarab
  • Lips: ColourPop’s Ultra Matter Lip in Beeper

My outfit is really simple. Just a white tank, with a patterned cardigan from Charlotte Russe, black jeans from Target, and cute ankle boots from Wet Seal.

And that’s about it!

Review: Benefit Cosmetics Boi-ing Concealer

Hello everyone!

Today, I wanted to share my new holy grail concealer. Before, I was using the Tarte Maracuja Concealer, but it didn’t work too well with my oily skin. Then, I used the Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer, which I like, but it made my fine lines look really bad. It also exemplified the tiny pore-like bumps we have on our under eye area, which caused my concealer to look super cakey. So I had to find something for oily skin, but dry under-eyes. After lots of research with reviews and videos, I came across the Benefit Cosmetics Boi-ing Concealer and I absolutely love it!

Boi-ing Shade 02

The packaging describes it as an “industrial-strength concealer”, which is referring to the fact that it’s full coverage. I used this primarily for my dark under-eye circles, and occasionally on breakouts/dark spots. My under-eyes are dry, and this concealer is perfect because it conceals without showing how dry my under-eye area is. I have olive/medium skin, and I use the shade 2, which is light-medium. It would be too light as an everday blemish concealer, but for my under-eyes it’s perfect and as long as I blend it out well on my blemishes, you can’t tell the color difference. It also says you just need to use your finger to apply it. I know that many people find that unsanitary, but I like it. I make sure my hands are clean, don’t worry! But, a small concealer brush would work too! It’s a very matte concealer, but has a unique texture so it doesn’t dry your under-eyes out. I’m also a huge fan of the packaging! It’s super small and circular, which is perfect for my handbag and traveling. The package holds .1 oz of the product, which doesn’t seem like much, but it’s definitely enough. I usually need just three thin swipes with my finger and I’m done, and trust me, my dark eye circles are no joke.

Boi-ing

After four hours, I usually check up on it because sometimes it settles into one specific line under my eye. I don’t know if that line is just deep or what, but it’s always the same eye/line that the product settles into. My other eye is perfectly fine and normal, so it’s not a big deal for me. Also, I bought mine from Sephora for $20, which is pricey for such a small amount of product, but I feel like this is going to last me a long time. But, whenever it does finish, I definitively will be repurchasing.

Hope you guys liked this review! Let me know if you’ve tried it!

3 Favorite Finds!

Hello everyone!

Hope you’re having an awesome hump-day! I wanted to share three awesome products I recently discovered!

1. Neutrogena Makeup Removers (4 in a pack):

Neutrogena Makeup Remover

Okay, I’ve used the Neutrogena blue make-up removers for a couple of years and I absolutely loved them! What I found out was that Sam’s Club, (sells things in bulk), sells them in a box, 4 packets for $13.88! Each packet has 25 towelettes, so you get 100! At CVS, one pack is about $8. Now that’s a deal people! If you don’t have a Sam’s by you, maybe try Costco’s or any warehouse-bulk type of stores.

2. Complexion Rescue in Tan 07 by BareMinerals

Complexion Rescue: bareMinerals

I was Ulta around the end of January, and saw this being advertised, right in the front. I really like tinted moisturizers and after testing out the color/texture, I had to buy it! I love it because it has probably the best moisturizing touch I’ve ever felt compared to other tinted moisturizers. Right now, I’ve been wearing it for two weeks, about every day, and I’m loving yet. I will do a full review on it, but I want to wear it for a while, so it can be more in depth.

3. Surreal Concealer in Olive #5 by Surrat

Surrat Beauty Concealer

So, I only got this 4 days ago…and it completely saved my face. I had a random breakout, and me being me, I had to pop those suckers (gross, I know). You could clearly see the hideous red spots, and I was out of my usual concealer. I got the Surrat Concealer in my Wantable Box and figured why not try it out now. It’s amazing. After I blend it out, it look like there’s nothing wrong with my face. It doesn’t look cakey and so far, it hasn’t broken me out. Like the one above, I will do a full review, after I’ve used it for a while. I just want to give you guys my full experience, and I definitely can’t get that in less than a week.

I know there’s only 3 products, but I had to share them because I love them so much already! Feel free to comment with any questions and let me know if you like it!

Unboxing Wantable: February 2015 Makeup Box

Hey guys!

So I just got my first ever Wantable box and I love it! For those of you who don’t know what that is, it’s a service that sends you either a makeup, accessories, fitness, or an intimidates box. For the makeup box, they have a quiz where you choose what you love, like, and don’t want at all. You don’t know what you’ll get, a personal stylist picks out your products based on your quiz, (mine was Joey), and you get 4 full-sized products. You can by it once for $40, (no shipping cost in the U.S.) or you can pay $36 a month. With the monthly subscription, you can choose if you want to skip a month or even unsubscribe without a penalty. So without further ado here’s what I got:

WantableFeb2015

Liberty Republic: Spellbound Nail Lacquer in Catalyst. Retails for $14.

Spellbound: Catalyst

Bodyography: Eye Liner Pencil Black Magic. Retails for $13.

Surrat Beauty Concealer

Lord & Berry: Shiny Lipstick Fuscia. Retails for $19.

Lord & Berry Crayon Lipstick

You guys, I got $96 worth of products when I only payed $36! Even though it may be expensive per month, at least you know you get over what you payed for. I really liked everything, except the Lord & Berry Lipstick. You have the option to return it, but I don’t really see the point because I won’t get a refund, since the Surrat Concealer is $50, and I really want to keep that. The concealer and the Bodyography eye pencil, are what I’m most excited about!

Check out the actual video of me opening it!

Let me know if you guys have tried Wantable and if you liked it, or if you have any questions!

Review: Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer

Hello beautiful people!

I wanted to share my review on the Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer. Honestly, it’s not my favorite concealer. First of all, there doesn’t seem to be a lot of the actual product. When I got it, I couldn’t even get the product out at first. I had to squeeze really hard from the top down and realized that the product barely comes halfway to the actual tube. I thought that I had bought an entire tube of product, not half of it.

20150130_173300

One thing I do like about the concealer, is all  the range of colors. There are 13 different shades, and the Light-Medium shade is perfect for me. It’s lighter than my skin color, but I wanted it that way because I wanted my dark under eye circles covered. Also, it blends well with my foundation, so it doesn’t look like two totally different colors.

I do like the texture and thickness of the product. It’s amazingly rich and moisturizing, which is perfect for your under eyes. It claims that it’s creaseless, but it’s not for me. Every time I use it, it creases. I tried with and without a moisturizer, primer and setting it with powder. It creased every time. Maybe I just have really bad under eyes or something.

Overall, it’s an okay concealer. I’ve used better, but it does do a good job at brightening your under eyes, and is easy to blend with your foundation.

Let me know if it worked for you!
