My Favorite Lip Products for Winter

Hello everyone!

Happy New Year! I don’t know where you guys are from, but on the East Coast, we’re finally feeling the cold weather. Around Christmas time, it was really nice, like 70 degrees nice! But this week it dropped straight down to 30 degrees and now it’s feeling like winter. I love cold weather and snow, but I hate what it can do to my skin. Keeping your body moisturized is very important during the winter. Today, I wanted to share what I’ve been using for my lips.

I have two products I use throughout the year: Vaseline and Carmex.

lips

I love Carmex! It works so well and is really inexpensive. I use it everyday! As soon as I put it on, my lips feel hydrated and it gives a healthy sheen. The Vaseline is what I used on my lips every night. It keeps them moisturized throughout the night, so when I wake up, I don’t have dry and cracked lips.

I have two new lip products I’ve added to my collection, specifically because they are good when it’s really cold.

They are the Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick in Tulip and Fresh: Sugar Honey Tinted Lip Treatment.

The Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick is way more pigmented and I wear it when I’m going out to see people and want to look “done”. It’s a muted pink, with brown undertones. I love it because it’s one of the most hydrating lipsticks I’ve ever worn and it has a mint scent when you put it on, which I love!

The Fresh Sugar in the color Honey, is more of my everyday, go to lip balm. It’s more of a tinted lip balm, so it’s perfect for when you want a natural look. I like this one because not only is the color natural looking, but it also has 15 spf in it to protect your lips. It also moisturizes my lips very well!

I hope you guys enjoyed! Let me know what your favorite lip products are for the cold season!

ColourPop Mini-Haul

Happy Humpday!

Today, I wanted to share three products that I bought from ColourPop! I only bought three because I’ve never bought anything from them and wanted to test out some products. That’ll help me decide if I want to buy more from them. I purchased three lip products.

colourpoplips3

The first two are from ColourPop’s Lippie Stix line. Lippie Stix are a variety of different lip stick colours, that have different finishes.

1. Lippie Stix: Frida: $ 5.00

colourpoplipsfrida

This is the color Frida, from the Lippie Stix collection, and it has a satin finish. The description on the website says, “A warm mid tone nude pink with a satin finish”.  I was really excited to try this one out, but I was disappointed when I put it on. I really didn’t like the color on me, at all! They have a picture of their model wearing the color, but for some reason I forgot that I wasn’t the same skin tone as their model. My skin tone is very olive/medium/tan looking and the model in the photo is quite light compared to me. On her, Frida looks gorgeous. It looked like the description said it should, a very nude pink. But on me, it was way too bright. I looked like I was trying to pull of the “Nicki Minaj lips”, but I wasn’t doing it well. In the picture above, the packaging color definetely doesn’t match the actual color of the lipstick. The packaging makes it look much warmer than how it looks on me. It is quite sheer, so I had to build it up. I definetely didn’t leave the house with this one on. But I will say, it definetly has a satin finish. I like how weightless it feels on my lips, now I just need to find myself the right color. If you want to check this one out, click here.

2. Lippie Stix: Brink: $ 5.00

colourpoplipsBrink

This is also from the Lippie Stix collection. It’s Brink and has a matte finish. They described it as, “A warm dusty taupe in a matte finish”. They also said that this one was inspired by Kylie Jenner. I love this one! It’s very close to my natural lip color, but more “taupe”. I do have to layer it on to get some color, but that’s not really a big deal to me. After you put it on and wait a couple minutes, it looks like it’s matte. But it does come off whenever I drink something or eat, so it’s not totally “matte”. I really like this as an every day type of color. On me, it comes off like a deep coral color with pink undertones, which is close enough to taupe for me. But on the model in the picture, it looks way lighter! It’s amazing how different color lips and skin can cause the same lipstick to look so different. If you are lighter, check out the model in the picture because mine definitely doesn’t look like that. This lipstick doesn’t last a long time either. With all the talking and eating I do, I reapply one layer almost every two hours, which is perfectly fine, just not expected since it’s supposed to be “matte”. But overall, I really like it! Click here to check it out!

3. Ultra Matte Lip: Beeper: $6.00

colourpoplipsbeeper

This one is my absolute favorite! The color is Beeper, which is in their Ultra Matte Lip Collection. This is a liquid lipstick and boy, did I have a hard time figuring it out. (I’m still learning, so don’t judge how it looks in that photo!) It’s my first liquid lipstick and I’m ready for more! They described this as, “call me, beep me, if you wanna reach me in this warm mid-tone taupe”, gotta love Kim Possible references!

As with all of these lippies, the color on me doesn’t show up like it does on the model…Brown girl probs. But, I still love the way it looks, even though it wasn’t what I was expecting. It looked more like a stony, frosted, taupe color, on their website. But on me, it’s more dark brown with violet mixed in. I love it! If you look at how the product looks inside the tube, it looks nothing it at all! Don’t judge these lipsticks by what their packaging colors are. They lie to you.

Since I had never tried a liquid lipstick, I had just put it on like normal. Geez, was that a mistake! What you’re supposed to do is exfoliate your lips first, then do it. They even put it on the directions, which I read afterwards. My lips were so gross and wrinkly/clumpy looking. It looked much better the next time I tried it, after I exfoliated my lips. Word of advice if you’re going to try liquid lipsticks, work fast! They dry pretty fast and can end up looking streaky if one part dries before the other. Or you could try layering it. What I do is outline my lips, then fill it in as fast as possible. But I’m still an amateur in this department. Another thing about this is that when you need to take it off, it’s almost impossible to do it without work. With the other two, I was able to wipe/wash them off. But this is made to be extremely long lasting, so it’s going to require effort. I tried washing it with hot water then wiping it with a towel, which worked after almost ten minutes. I read somewhere that putting Vaseline on it, then letting it sit, and then wipe it off with hot water would work. I tried that and it took about five minutes. If you guys know an easier way to get them off, let me know!

Even though this particular one requires more work, I’m still going to wear it. I saw a lot of beauty gurus on Youtube and Instagram, of all different skin tones, wearing this one particular color. I finally went on the website, saw that Beeper was only $6.00 and decided to get it. If you want to check them out click here!

Even though I didn’t like the first shade, Frida, it was only $5.00, which is better than buying a Mac lipstick for way more, and then not liking it. I’m very happy with the other two, especially Beeper! I recommend that if you see a shade you like, search it on google, instagram, youtube, etc, and find someone who is close to your skin tone/lips to see how it might look on you. Here’s some pictures, so that you guys can see the difference better.

For those of you who don’t know what ColourPop is, it’s a beauty company, that from what I understand, is only online. They have extremely affordable products. A quote from their ‘About Me’ says, “We think that whole barrier between fancy and affordable is absolute nonsense.” Doesn’t that statement just resonate with you? They are also animal-cruelty free! I just became a huge fan of this company and I’m deciding if I should splurge now or wait till Christmas to buy more…ah, the struggles.

Hope you guys enjoyed and let me know which one is your favorite!

L’Oreal Colour Riche Lipcolour: Top 2 Favs

Hello there!

Today, I wanted to talk about two of my favorite colors from the L’Oreal: Colour Riche collection. They have 47 shades! Obviously, I haven’t tried every single one, but I have tried ten. I like them all, but my two favs are the ones I wear everyday. It’s the colors: Toasted Almond and Cinnamon Toast.

I love both of them because they’re so good for an everyday use. Toasted Almond is more of a nude shade and has and has the perfect light brown/pink look to it. Cinnamon Toast is darker and has a dark brown type of look to it. I like using it to add color to my face, while the Toasted Almond is for when I’m feeling more natural.

All the lipsticks I’ve tried from this collection are all amazingly moisturizing! I would usually put on chapstick before putting on my lipstick, but I don’t need to with these! They’re very creamy and make my lips feel so soft. The application is so smooth! The color usually lasts me about 2 hours, but my lips are moisturized for a long time, which I love! Definitely a great drugstore lipstick.

Also, the packaging looks cute and classy. It’s gold and has a cute gold band around the middle. It doesn’t open itself in my purse like other lipsticks do, which is exactly what I need.

I bought them from Target for $5.99, which is a great price for such a good product. Definitely worth it. I hope you guys enjoyed this review and let me know if you’ve tried them!

Bare Minerals: Marvelous Moxie Lipstick Review

Hello there!

So, I’m not usually a lipstick type of girl, but I saw this shade in Ulta and really liked it! It’s in the shade Rise Up. The description they give is a “luminous bronze”. My lips are darker around the corners, and I really like that this color evens out the color, while still looking natural. It’s more of a casual, classic, everyday shade, rather than the pop of colors (reds, pinks, neons), we’ve been seeing.

Besides the color, my favorite thing is the packaging. Unlike regular lipsticks, where the top can just slip off whenever, this one has a lock. You have to slide the silver button down, and that’s how the top comes off. No more worrying if your lipstick is messing up your purse!

IMG_1402 It’s really shiny, so if you’re looking for a matte lipstick, the Marvelous Moxie line probably isn’t the right one. But, it’s really moisturizing and actually lasts me a long time. The only downside to it, is the price. It’s $18.00, which I guess compared to other brands, this is fairly low, but still. Honestly, I feel like it’s worth it, because if it does it’s job and doesn’t break in half, like other lipsticks, why not? Also, a little of this goes a long way and you don’t have to reapply too much, so it lasts.

Let me know if you’ve tried any of the Moxie Lipsticks and if you liked it or not!
