Review: Trader Joe’s Face Lotion SPF 15

Hello everyone!

I wanted to share my thoughts on the Trader Joe’s Enrich Moisturizing Face Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 15…whoa, is that a mouthful or what?

I purchased this around March because I was interested in a moisturizer with SPF. Most of the time, my makeup has SPF in it, but there were some that didn’t and I wanted to add this to my daily routine. I purchased this from Trader Joe’s for about $10.

It is in a nice little bottle and the product is white. It feels like your basic moisturizer, nice and smooth. It’s easy to apply and after giving it about 10-15 minutes to absorb, I find that it doesn’t leave too much of a greasy feeling. I only feel it in my super oily spots like my t-zone and cheeks. Nothing a little bit of powder can’t fix.

Unfortunately, this product did not work for me. I didn’t notice until two weeks ago that it was causing breakouts on my forehead. I tend to have acne on my cheeks, but I’ve never really broken out on my forehead. It was just a lot of really small pimples, which would take forever to come to a head.

At first, I didn’t put two and two together. My mom asked if I tried anything new, and then I thought about the lotion. But I thought that it couldn’t be because the rest of my face was not breaking out as bad. Eventually, I decided to test out not using it for two days, and lo and behold, my forehead breakouts started healing.

It’s so odd, because I put it all over my face, but only my forehead was affected. But the lotion was the culprit and now my forehead is virtually clear.

I’m not sure why it did that, but I’ll let you guys know what type of skin I have and maybe if you have the same issues, you can avoid this product. I have oily skin, prone to acne on my cheeks and chin. I’ve used many products and have almost never had breakouts from them, only the NYX color corrector palette.

I hope you guys found this helpful! Let me know if you’ve tried the lotion and if it worked out for you.

Quick and Easy Summer Eye Tutorial Ft. Toofaced Sweet Peach Palette

Hello my lovelies!

Today, I wanted to share a quick and easy summery eye look. This has been my go-to look eye look when I’m in a rush. I am using shadows from the Toofaced Sweet Peach Palette, but feel free to use similar colors and customize the look.

SweetPeachShadowsAmandaSushma

I used the Candied Peach shadow (middle row, third from the left), all over my lids. Then, I just added some depth to my outer-V with Summer Yum, (bottom row, second from the right). I blended them out and added more eye shadow as needed. I love how these two colors look together. They really give that perfect summer look that’s been trending right now. The effortless looking pink/orange shadows are really in. It doesn’t take long at all to do and I feel like this super easy look can look great on a range of skin tones. Also, if you have the Sweet Peach palette, the shadows smell amazing.

I add a lighter color to my brow bone, such as Georgia to give a little highlight in that area. I like to add a wing and mascara to finish off the look.

I hope you guys enjoyed and let me know if you like this look! Also, follow me on Instagram @amandasushma to see more looks. Thanks for reading!

Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer Review

Hello everyone!

Today, I wanted to share a review on the Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer Foundation. I’ve been using it for about two months and I really like it!

What it claims: Lightweight, moisturizing, does not clog pores, skin breathes, color is true (through sweat and humidity), one dip of the wand is enough for your entire face, and 12 hours of full-coverage.

At first, the foundation seemed a little darker than what I had swatched at the stoere, but it eventually adjusted and with some blending, it became the right color. They state that on the directions too, the first time you use it it might look darker because the pigment is so rich, but just blend it out.

I have acne prone skin and so far, this foundation has not broken me out. I have one or two zits here and there, but not enough to be from the foundation, especially since I use it everyday.

I have oily skin, so I was nervous when the foundation said it was moisturizing, but there was nothing to fear. The foundation on my forehead, chin, temple, and outer cheek area stay put throughout the day. I typically where makeup for about eight to ten hours, so I think that’s a decent amount of time. The foundation around my lips and nose/pore area tends to settle into a couple lines. I figure it’s because I’m oily and when I talk and drink, of course it’s going to settle into those fine lines. Recently, I started using the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder, and it has helped reduce that effect, but of course, it’s not totally gone. The method that helped me is instead of pressing it in with a damp beauty blender, I used a powder puff and really pressed the powder into my pores. I haven’t broken out or anything, and my oiliness has reduced quite a bit.

With oily skin, primers are a necessity. Recently, I’ve been using the NYX Photoready Primer all over my face and the NYX Pore Primer on the larger pores around my nose. these primers have really helped the foundation stay in place.

The coverage is perfect. It’s full-coverage and you don’t need that much product. Usually one dip is enough for me. It takes care of my dark spots and hyper-pigmentation very well!

I love that it’s also good for concealing at the same time. Perfect 2 in 1 product. I would recommend using the tip end of the brush to conceal blemishes. I like how it covers up dark spots and blemishes, but I hate how it makes my under-eyes look. Definitely use an actual under-eye concealer for dark circles. I think that since my under-eyes are so dark and different from the color of my face, it gives it a weird shade compared to the rest of the foundation on my face.

The price is not that bad for a brand like Clinique. I purchased mine from Belk for $28, which is actually very inexpensive for the amount you get, which is 1 oz. There are some foundations that are more expensive and you get less product, so the price doesn’t bother me at all.

I really like the packaging as well! It’s in a long, glass bottle, which usually I wouldn’t like, but it’s thick enough to where it has a smaller chance of breaking if I drop it, (which I have done, multiple times).

Also, the applicator is interesting. It’s not my favorite, but I don’t hate it. It’s a neutral feeling. I do like that the brush picks up a lot of product, and the claim that one dose of the brush is enough is totally true! I just dot it all around my face and that’s enough.

Overall, I think this is a great foundation. It’s not mattifying by any means, but with some primer and setting powder, people with oily skin can definitely use this. The coverage is amazing and you can use it for targeting blemishes at the same time. The price is not crazy and you get a decent amount. FOUNDATION APPROVED.

Thanks so much for reading! I would love to hear your comments or questions!

Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette: First Impression

Hello everyone!

Hope you’re enjoying the week so far. I wanted to share my first impression of the TooFaced Sweet Peach Palette.

If you want to actually see it, my video review is below.

First of all, I love the packaging. It’s a pretty pink/peachy ombrè color and has a cute peach logo. One of the best parts of the palette is the fact that it is a magnetic open/close. No need to pry it open and break your nails, so easy to open!

SweetPeachAmandaSushma

Another great aspect of the palette, is the SMELL. I know, I know, if you’ve been reading reviews on this, it’s all anyone’s talking about. But let me tell you guys, it is amazing. Now, I haven’t had a peach in a long time, but if they smell like the palette, I’m definitely going to be eating some.

So far, I’ve only used the peach colors and the matte two shades at the lower right. The peach colors show up well on my eyelids, but the other ones I have to work with a little bit more. I have dark eyelids, so I usually use a white base to make colors pop, so I think that’s the problem. Other than that, the colors are great! I think you get a great variety of bright shades, transitions, mattes, and shimmers. The mattes are highly pigmented and a little goes a long way. I do find myself dipping in the shimmery colors a couple times, just so I can get them to pop a little more.

The only complaint I really have is the price tag. I think I spent about $50 from Ulta. Yup. I know. It has a crazy price tag, but I don’t really have any high-end palettes, and I really liked the variety of colors (also the smell), and swallowed my guilt and purchased it.

That’s about it for my first impression of this palette. I’d love to know what you guys think! Thank you so much for reading!

Gold and Shimmery Full-Faced Tutorial (Video)

Hello lovelies!

Today I finally have a beauty post for all of you! I know I’ve been doing a lot of the daily prompts, but those really help get my thoughts out and I hope that you guys don’t mind too much.

But today is a beauty day! I created this gold and shimmery eye look, using a mixture of NYX’s Natural pallete and their Dubai palette. It’s a full-face tutorial, using the Clinique Foundation and Concealer foundation, which I will definitely be doing a separate post on.

Thank you so much for reading and feel free to leave any comments!

Au Natural or Glitter All Day?

Hello everyone,

I’m aiming to do a post a day, with the help of the  Daily Prompt: Glitter.

When I think of glitter, I think of makeup and beauty. That’s the primary content of my blog. I think it’s interesting how makeup and looks in general are being viewed in today’s world.

Of course, there are so many opinions, I can’t possible talk about all of them. But, I have noticed two polar opposites.

The first are the makeup lovers, such as myself. Nowadays, makeup is so popular. Whether you like it or not, it’s always on your Instagram explore page or featured on some other site. It’s fun and brings out the creativity in people, at least in my opinion. So many different looks are being done today, and it’s just amazing! I love makeup because it brings so many different people together, like any other interest. Men have been able to climb over huge gender stereotypes because of it too.

Of course, there are people who don’t like all of the glitter, glows, and bronzy looks these days. When I browse through comments for pictures that makeup artists and makeup brands put up on their pages, I see a lot of makeup haters out there.

Disclaimer: Not hating on people who don’t like makeup, just commenting on what some say.

I notice a lot of comments such as “Why is she putting so much on her face?”, “Too glittery”, “Who would wear that ever?”, and of course the “Try what I do. Makeup free and natural”. I just wonder, why comment all of that on a makeup page, that’s literally what their about.

screen-shot-2017-02-20-at-12-52-52-pm

Most recent example of some of those comments on a makeup artist’s video on a makeup brand’s page. Why comment when it’s literally their business/job? From LorealMakeup’s Instagram.

I know I seem to be coming off as against the ‘natural’ way of life, but I’m just against telling others off for what they like doing. I totally get the no-makeup people, and understand that they want people to confident in their own skin. But what I just don’t understand is judging others for actually using it. Why can’t you do what you want, and let others live how they want, (and keep rude comments to yourself)? Of course, isn’t that what the internet is known for, telling everyone and everything what to do.

Personally, I love how my face looks like with makeup, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t go makeup free. Without makeup, I still feel confident, but with it, it’s such a boost. So what if people hide their pimples or wear bright blue eyeshadow? How does that affect anyone else?

Also, for people who use makeup for self-confidence, is that so terrible? People take drugs to feel happy, so what if some foundation helps someone get through the day?

This is all my opinion and I’m definitely interested in your opinions, so feel free to leave any comments! Thanks for reading!
